Anyone trying the above combination successfully?

I can't use the CS update facility and the game can't get onto any servers.

Steve, can you provide me with an IP:port address that you guys use regularly?

so is XP worth considering for games players then ?

no issues with them working ? esp 1st person online stuff ?

Right click the .exe file , select "run in windows 98 mode" or any of the others listed.

This worked for me with some of my older racing games. they wouldn't work in XP either

The game update never works for me on WinME. Just download the patches manualy and install!

half-life patch

CS

I am running the same setup but without the problems that you are encountering. Try downloading the updates from other sites then install them while out of the CS program. The only problem I encountered was with my ATI graphics card kept on chucking me out after 30 sec playing with an overflow message. A quick look on the sites revealed a patch to combat this.

Cheers
