Couple of Insurance Questions.

Looking for some recomendations.

No subaru anymore since I sold my STi Type R and replaced it with an overly sensible Gt TDI golf.

This last 8 months or so I've been insured with Kieth Micheals, dealign with Gary who has been outstanding. Just taking out cover notes on my Rover track car when events came up.

However, I had planned to refit the nitrous to the Rover and Kieth Micheals don't cover this, Gary did check and see if I could get round it by having the system dismantled on the way to events etc but it was a no go.

Due to my MOT being silly money as I had gubbed all the front suspension on the Rover, 290ish bhp FWD will do that eventually, pulls all the bushes around too much, I've had to postpone or cancel the plan to refit the gas to lift it to 350ish. However I may still do this for TOTB, so I'm looking for recomendations on some scenarios.

1. Nitrous friendly insureres, who will do me a cheap limited mileage policy

2. Companies who will do me a 2 car policy, with the Rover on limited mileage, 2k max a year etc, as a 2nd vehicle.

3. companies who will do me a very cheap policy on the Rover satifying both the above, so I can get a cheap policy on it, and still use my 8 years NCB on the golf for my yearly insurance.

any and all opinions/advice appreciated. I have 11 points at the moment, down to 8 at the end of the month (got 8 for a CD30 after CID lied through their teeth in court, was speeding and nothing else) and I drive HGV's for a living so I can't afford to be risking anything insurance wise, need to be 100% legally covered.

Hi mate

We are very good with mods, but nitrous is a big no.

Not really sure who will cover it. Greenlight specialise in modded cars, but they might have the same problem as us with the gas fitted, but certainly worth contacting them

Other than them maybe Adrian Flux will look at it.

But whoever you use make sure you declare everything. There was a thread on a few forums a couple of months ago about a guy who didn't get paid out on his RX7, and i am pretty sure that was because of nitrous being fitted.

Yeah I wouldn't drive it without declaring everything, as you say you've always been spot on with anything done and hands are tied when it comes to the gas.

Found a couple of places that other people with gas have declared it with so will see how I get on with them if it comes to it, or if it's just going to be a case of borrowing the gas kit for TOTB then it might be worth just trailering the car down to it with the gas fitted rather than changing insurance compaines just to allow for one event later in the year.

Cheers again

Ross
