Boost Solenoid

I know this question may have been asked before, but can someone explain how you get your boost solenoid out to clean it?

I know where it is, but once I take the black plastic top cover of I can't get the solenoid out from the frame thing its in - appears to be held in by some sort of clips, don't want to force them as I don't want to cause any damage....

In case it makes a difference, the car is a 2001 bugeye WRX.....

Cheers

Darren

Darren my car was cutting out higher up the rev range found it to be clogged boost solenoid you dont need to remove the solenoid itself just clean out all connected pipe work out with brake cleaner then spray brake cleaner into one of the ports on the solenoid re-connect all pipes and go for a blast should cure any probs you have mate.

Cheers mate, i'll give it a go, turbo oscillates in four and fifth about 75% of the time, particularly when the car is under load, ie passengers, uphill etc, sometimes does it in third too.

Hope this does cure it cause im finding it very frustrating.

Have you got any mods on your car like a de-cat? and have you had it mapped to suit them?
mine use to do this and it was overboosting due to the de-cat

Yeah heard a few people with similar problems on here and seems the boost solenoid is often the culprit. I am clean it this morning so let you know.....

Moneys - yes I have some mods, prodrive exhaust with sports cat, sti TMIC, sti, panel filter, walbro fuel pump upgrade and a remap. Had it done about 8/9 months ago......foolishly pushed it too much during a moment of pure stupidity though and paid the price, have a large piece of metal from the block sat on my desk as a reminder of what happens when you get too excited with the right foot !!

Thing is that the oscillations were evident before the new engine, but only very very slightly and only in four. It is much worst now (although after longish journeys of say over 60 miles seems to ease off a bit. Weird.

Will try what has been suggested though.
