very nice looking car etc plus few more others mods.does this car sound reliable just by looking at the mods to you?because of the high bhp, would you say it would very bad on fuel even if driving it sensibly most times?was told it does 20-25mpg driving sensibly.
and what would you say the car worth?

just looking for some advice and feedback before i go and look at it.

cheers:)

what sort of money is it up for? that is a big engine spec and the bits look ok but who built it ?

ru' 16 February 2007 07:47 AM

15 miles on new engine? If I had something like that built there's no way I'd let it go when it's no-where near even run in! Poor sod who's selling I guess?

Yeah right!! Std scoobies can struggle to do that!! :lol1:

Expect high teens, low teens if you use boost, single figures if you gun it!! :thumb: If you're worried about economy, these are NOT the cars for you. Ditto the insurance, which will be expensive for a car of this spec.

I'd have a word with Steve Simpson about the car for his impressions of its spec and condition. Sounds like a comprehensive job to me. Do you mean 15k miles on the new engine rather than 15 though??? ;)

yeah 15k miles sorry, i have had a wrx before which was 300bhp and that was ok on fuel if you mix up the driving, hes asking for 5400 cash, thats what worried me because that very very cheap for the money he has put in it

scoobywrx320 16 February 2007 11:04 AM

was just told it was run in for 1500 miles, then leak down and compression tests and service.

RB5_245 16 February 2007 11:46 AM

That engine is overspec'd really for that output. Should be very reliable. I actually have a similar set up on my uk classic, gems, 20G etc and get better economy than std if you keep it off boost.

I'd snap that up at that price if it is as advertised.

i really dont know what to do. im just a bit worried that it only going for 5400 and its a really nice car to.it has anti lag on it to

Well, the car is 10 years old, the engine should be good for a long time with that spec, but what about the transmission, chassis etc? You never get back what you pay for a car in terms of mods......that said, I do think he is being a little pessimistic with the price!! I would have thought at least £1000 more than that to kick things off!

I would go and see it, but wouldn't buy it until it's had a comprehensive inspection by experts. If you like what you see, you could leave a deposit with a view to buying the car subject to a satisfactory inspection.

Does he have receipts for the work? Proof of who did the work.

How'z the gearbox at that output?

scoobywrx320 16 February 2007 02:22 PM

was just told that api done the work with all receipts, he said the gearbox is fine although that is the weakness of the car

Budget 2k on top of the car for a 6 speed replacement then! Call me paranoid if you like, but.......

his name is paul collins i think?what you think of the car?

scoobywrx320 16 February 2007 07:07 PM

would the gearbox be ok with this power or would it need a much stronger one

I've read on some previouse threads the box's are usually good for around 350bhp but its more the torque that does the damage

10 year old car mate, putting out over 100bhp and similar lbs feet torque more than std. Some last, some don't. How they're looked after is a big factor. You don't know how the car has been driven. Like I said, if you can't afford a six speed or PPG replacement, I wouldn't take the plunge. Better safe than sorry.

I would suggest that this probably explains the low selling price.
