Power loss through dump valve?

I have a baileys dump valve fitted to my standard wrx classic. It was on the car when i got it, i have read certain debates about aftermarket dump valves actually causing power losses, would i be gaining more power if i put the standard equipment back on it?

From what I understand you will only incurr loss if the spring in the dump valve is incorrect (i.e to soft and the pressure is released to early, too hard and not releasing enough pressure)

Does it seem like it is releasing too early or late?

I've got a 93wrx and had a Blitz vta on it which was fine for some time but it then started to make the car stall when i gave it some throttle then had to slow down quickly (in 1st and 2nd gear) replaced it with the standard recirc and the car stopped stalling and pulled a lot harder through the gears
