Well the cars going into Zen!!!

Hey guys

My cars going into Zen Performance on the 24th of March for a complete High Spec Engine rebuild so i thought id post the details up here and see what you guys thought.

I spoke to a lot of people in the trade and decided on Zen to do the work in the end because of what I'd heard about the place and of how Paul spoke of the work. He made everything sound so simple and he really did seem to know his stuff!

So after speaking to lots of people i decided that my money was best spent at this stage getting the engine internals up to scratch so when i start going for more power things don't end in tears!

So the Spec -

Short Block built up by Zen (Will be rebore and have new gaskets and seals as well as all bits being hot washed)
  • ACL Phase 2 big end bearing set
  • ACL Phase 2 main bearing set
  • 92.5mm WISECO piston kit, 17.8cc
  • Conrod, Tomei H-section for EJ20
  • STi Version 9 crankshaft assembly

To go with this there will be -
  • SEN13 Subaru modified oil pump
  • STi 4 Cylinder heads
  • AP Racing Organic clutch
  • Medium Weight Billet Flywheel
  • 4 new coil packs and a Lambda sensor (Mine are on the way out!)

I'm also going to be needing a new oil pan cos some idiot seems to have jacked my car up on it at some point in its life!!!

Then when my bank account recovers I'll start getting other bits done and a full remap by Paul.

So what do you guys think, do you reckon this is a good start?

Sounds good.... what model is it!?

WayneG555 15 February 2007 07:01 PM

Forgot that bit!!!

Its a My96 WRX STi '555' but thats not what the engine is!! Someones put a legacy lump in it at some point!

Had mine rebuilt by Zen with similar spec last year......and will be there for mapping a couple of days before yours goes in.

I reckon your in safe hands;)

WayneG555 15 February 2007 08:53 PM

Yer that's what I've heard. Had nothing but good reports about them. What else have you had done to yours since then? I was thinking when money is available ill go for a front mount, induction, new turbo, injectors, new turbo back. Haven't really spoke to anyone about it but I've got to save up money first, the rebuild is gonna empty my bank!!!!

Any suggestions welcome as for what i can do later on.

Paul seems to know his subaru,s and his car is very fast :D

For me a mapper and engine builder should show his muscle in his car :notworthy

sounds like a good choice of components and definately a good choice of Subaru specialist :thumb:

My engine is a similar build to yours. With the right supporting mods and turbo (MD321T) I achieved a healthy 455bhp and the engine can cope with that level easily :D

WayneG555 16 February 2007 06:06 AM

How much now!!!!!! Thats the type of numbers i thought only happened in dreams!!!! Best i get saving the pennies for that then!!! What sort of mods did you have on your car?

WayneG555 12 April 2007 07:59 PM

Well after a few problems i should hopefully be getting the car this Saturday!!! Just as everything was going well last time Paul found a crack in one of the cams!! He's spent the last week searching for a replacement one and had problems with it not being delivered! But just got off the phone to him and hes confident the engine will be in the car by tonight, so should be checked over by tomorrow!!! Which means that hopefully i can be driving it home on Saturday!!!!

Just gotta keep my fingers crossed!

Nothing happened, he just wants more than it's wise to push the standard engine, so we're giving it an upgrade.

Jam Performance 27 April 2007 07:14 PM

..

i saw both ur cars today engine was looking very good in the sti 555, i was getting mine remapped, paul done a very good job the car is totally transformed, its a shame it dsnt stop as well as it goes lol :norty:

shadower 27 April 2007 07:30 PM

yes as paul said nothing happened just thought it wise to upgrade the internals rather than push too far and blow it

WayneG555 30 April 2007 11:52 AM

Well i have her back!!!

I picked the car up on Saturday afternoon from Paul. It feels so much better already and i haven't even started to up the power!!!!

Paul told be to do about 800 miles of 'not too hard but not too soft' driving so haven't really floored it yet but it already seems so smooth and 'willing'. Just cant wait to get the oil changed and really have a play with it!!! Then all i need is the bank account to recover and ill be back up there asking for more POWER!!!

If anyone's looking to get some work done i would highly recommend these guys.

Wayne

shadower 30 April 2007 02:47 PM
