Anyone has any more info? (performance, specs, etc)
I've decided that I dislike the new scooby, and don't want an "old" one, so I'll keep the Elise111s until next year and swap it for a FocusRS when it's released here in Italy (when?). Apparently out of the box sub-6sec 0-60 and 150mph top, and handling characteristics similar to an Integra-r with big rubber and brakes, should make the RS a fine road track compromise with the right looks, and especially space and comforts which are the problems with my elise as I do longish commutes year-round.
If you know any performance figures, exact specs, launch dates, please let me know.

I thought that this RS project had been shelved - the powerful version that is?

AWD.....it's the 220hp (?not sure exactly) FWD version that mcrae has been helping develop. About 1300kg I hear from various unofficial sources, 220hp, FWD (no 4wd drivetrain losses) and with a similar diff setup as the Integra-R, big brembos and 17-18" sticky rubber. These are all unofficial specs, but the car is real as there are photos on official ford sites, with brief press releases. Apparently out in 2001 (when?), sub-6 sec 0-60, 150mph.
Anyone has more specific detailed info?

I saw it at this years Birmingham motorshow. It just looked like an ordinary Focus with big wheels on.

What the marketing men want and what they get in terms of spec usually gets altered once the bean counters have had a look at the project....

Would be anice car though if it did get all the toys.

At least my sewer pipe is round, whereas the FR200's is triangular, urgh!

It's just that I think the new one looks ...well, you know, ... and with the "old" shape it's a case of been there done that want something new. The Elise 111S is very fast great fun and looks fantastic, but I drive lots of motorway miles year round and it gets just too uncomfortable and tiring. I think that the focus RS, having a diff set up like the integra R which pretty much eliminates the pains of fwd, and having over 200hp with no losses due to no 4wd running gear and lighter body, at least on a dry road rack should be in STi territory as far as performance, will be much better then the Elise in the wet, and unlike the elise will not "kill" me in motorway commuting discomfort.

Ford seem as smug as they were when they introduced the racing Puma, which they now admit (in the Evo Story this month) that they got wrong. I find it hard to believe that they can make the focus handle as well as the very best front-drivers (eg Clio williams, Corrado and Integra R) because the best front wheel driven cars have all shared one thing in common- 15 inch wheels. There is a reason why a company as smart as Honda in the year 2000 still uses 15 inch wheels.
