What head gasket to use in a 2.5 conversion?
As above. I have ordered a new 2.5 shortblock which should be delivered next week, it has a full gasket set with it but I have been told that I will need different head gasket than supplied because I have a MY 98 Sti. The head gasket supplied will only work with a version 6 onwards??
Can anyone confirm the thickness gaskets I will need for a MY98 & where to buy them? Thanks |
Use the standard 2.5 head gaskets.

Cheers, :thumb: I was hoping that was the answer. I have read different somewhere tho.

Why buy the wrong gasket kit in the first place, and then spend an extra £100.00 just to get the correct gaskets ?
The head gaskets won't be the only parts that are wrong either, inlet manifold gaskets, rocker cover gaskets, cam seals, + a few bits. That lot alone will cost you another £50-60.00 + vat. Ask for your money back on the gasket kit, it's money down the drain. Mark. |

I bought the standard complete 2.5 gasket kit with it for $220- about £130 & now realise that not all gaskets will be compatible - a mistake on my part. Do you know exactly which gaskets will need be needed in the 2.5 conversion I thought the standard head gaskets were ok? & can Lateral Performance quote & supply additional gaskets needed? |
