Reducing octane and searching for power

I'm currently running a very nice to drive 2.5 classic using a GT30R with a .63 A/R. For various reasons I will have to stop using 99 V-Power and switch to 95 :( . My initial thinking was to recover the lost power by uprating my turbo to the GT3040 but would like some feedback from those who have used this turbo. Very interested to hear from 2.5 owners in terms of spool time and turbo responsiveness. Also what exhaust housing did you opt for? Does anyone want to suggest any alternatives?

Thanks for commenting. Im actually running 10% methanol but the car isnt mapped for it. I don't want to get into the situation where I have to have boosters or similar to drive the car in case I get caught short at some stage. I'm hoping that there is another way round the issue, preferably without losing to much in terms of the cars responsiveness.

95ron plus meth is not far different octane wise than 99.. AFR will be different though.

Yes, definitely. Andy (Forrest) was aware of my plan to run methanol so I'm sure he compensated. He has also said previously that any of the cars he maps can be run on up to 10% methanol without issue.

Have you mapped any cars with GT3040's? What did you think of them in comparison to the GT30R?

only mapped a GT3040R on a 2.3litre 5cylinder engine, and again on a GT40R, but not a GT30R so difficult to compare.

If you are happy with the current power, I would strive to maintain it on that turbo.. however the .82 housing might be a better move than the GT3040, although you will lose a little spool obviously.
