Scoobie Newbie, My first Scoobie MY97 WRX

Hello to all you Scooby Fans !

I started searching for information on Scoobies at the tail end of last year and decided that december was the month for me to finally become a fully fledged owner of my dream car.

I found ScoobyNet through various search engines, and with the information I found on this forum I set about looking for my first Impreza.

Not sure what type to go for UK or Import, Turbo 2000, Terzo, RB5, WRX, WRX STI, RA etc etc.... My head was hurting :brickwall

Finally my decision was made up for me, I saw a classified ad on fleaBay for a MY97 WRX, mint conditon interior, great exterior and only 78k miles.

I went to view the car in the week, late at night and decided there and then I had to have it, then I went out for a test drive and compared to my fastest previous car a Renault 5 GT Turbo I couldn't compare the two !
(Also the misses liked it which helped! )

So I now own the face lift model MY97 1996 WRX 280ps/276 bhp with a stainless exhaust and induction kit for my first impreza! Insurance was £725 fully comp with 6 years ncd and I'm 25.

Any way, I would just like to thank everyone on here for the information and help they have given me indirectly to help me purchase the first of hopefully many Scoobies!

Hope to meet up with a few locals soon, I am just outside of Hereford in Leominster so give me a wave if you see me :luxhello: !

Pictures to follow when I have worked out photobucket or the likes!

Cheers
James

Looks nice mate, now get it detangoed :thumb:

Haze20 06 February 2007 11:06 PM

Cant wait too!

Rear Sti lights around £150-£200 from what I can see, indicators front and side should be about £70-£80.

Does that sound about right?

miff13 06 February 2007 11:20 PM

Got my smoked side indicators for 1p off ebay, was lucky but £15 should get you some, not sure on your front indictators as they look like pre-facelift ones but £25 should more than cover it. Yet to get the sti rear lights, I keep looking but I love a bargain and everyone knows what they're worth! II've heard you can get them for £150 but don't know where from.

Matt or anyone, any ideas if the crystal headlights, indicators & fogs fit my car ?

Your car looks very nice, like the alloys ! What are the brakes on it 2/4 pot ?

Mine aren't that good and looking in the future to upgrade.

Tony

Haze20 07 February 2007 10:56 PM

What was the Type R like?

Does it compare to a P1?

mickywrx 07 February 2007 11:12 PM

Very nice looking Scooby you've got there mate :thumb:

As has been said, you have the pre-facelift bumper, 92-97/98 I think it is.

How much are you selling your ride height arch clearance for? ;)

Micky :D

Haze20 08 February 2007 10:03 PM

Not sure, whats it worth ? do you sell per cm or mm ?:lol1:

Does having the pre facelift bumper mean I can't fit the crystal headlights and side lights ?

miff13 08 February 2007 10:53 PM

You've got the facelift bonnet and looks like the facelift grill :wonder: to so facelift lights should fit. do a search I'm sure it will have been covered on here many times.

Type R whoops a P1 ;) mine was a V LTD so had long 5th, P1 suspension suited UK roads but Type R is/was superior in most other repects ;)

Hi Baz

Very likely you've seen me around :thumb: I bought a house 14 months ago and have just bought a scooby :cuckoo: wrong way round but it was only because my work is in Leominster and pretty much any mileage is paid by work @ 40pence per mile :luxhello:

Cheers for the link to scoobyclinic, £60 ish quid for a rolling road seems like good value, might consider that to check all is ok.

I have seen a few scooby's around Leominster, are you coming to the meet organised by Tony ? Sunday at the Hungry Horse in Hereford?

Would 4 pots and 294mm discs fit with the current alloys 16" ?

Thanks
James

No however that was a previous plate i had which i sold to another guy in Leominster. He has now changed his 2000 2.0 Turbo for a 2003(?) STI.

Yes. 4 pots are from 99 on, and standard 99-00 alloy are 16s - in fact your alloys are from a 99.
