Query: 95 RA conversion to use a MY00 gearbox

Hi

We are currently trying to swap the gearbox on a 95 RA to use a MY00 gearbox (change of tactic from a previous post). We have the gear ratios and the final drive for the UK box but we now need to match/exchange that with whats in the 95 RA (going for the longer ratio of the UK box). Has anyone done this mod and what bits did they change to complete the conversion (thinking diff ratios for the front and back)?

Cheers

So do you have 2 different casings or just a gearset from the Uk car?

The 95 WRX RA should have a gearbox code of TY752VB3EA which fortunately has a 3.9 front diff - the same as the MY00 UK box. But the tranfer ratio in the RA centre diff is 1:1 wheras in the UK box it is 1.1:1.

I am pretty sure that the centre diffs for a 752 and 754 gearbox is interchangable, so the best option would be to put the centre diff from the RA onto the UK box, then it should be matched to the RA's rear diff.

Beware, the only way to be sure is to count all teeth and work out the ratios on the front, centre and rear diffs - the RA might not have its original gearbox for example.

I'd also chat to API or Zen for advice too!

Hi.

Thanks for the info :thumb: . Wow absolutely stunned that this post didnt move down despite your post at 10 last night. The board was certainly quiet yesterday. Hopefully Paul or David will comment if they see this thread.

Cheers
