sarasquares 06 February 2007 05:11 PM

TopBanana 06 February 2007 05:12 PM

I guess the more types they have, the more machinery there is to go wrong?

sarasquares 06 February 2007 05:15 PM

My local Tesco's, ASDA and Sainsburys' all have those change to note machines in them....

Pop in your change & out pops notes, albeit not the fifty pound type ;)

Not when you press the £20 button

In Portugal, getting a €50 note from a machine is hen's teeth, even in the rich areas like Lisbon. Yet in Spain, it's perfectly normal, even in villages. Odd.

I Don't know if it still does, but the HSBC round the corner from me used to spit out £5 notes.

Simon C 06 February 2007 05:44 PM

No, £50 notes are not loaded in ATM's. The bank machines hold 250k - 500k in £10's and £20's as it is, could you imagine the insurance bill if anyone wanted to put £50's in 1. I don't think it would last very long, cos you'd be looking at £500k just in 1 type of note!!

Also no operators I know stopped using £5 notes years ago cos of the cost of replenishment everytime it ran out.

sarasquares 06 February 2007 05:45 PM

that explains it then :thumb:

HSBC used to do fivers from there's.

I'm terrible for losing cash so it's probably a good thing that fun vouchers are not dispensed :lol1:

SwissTony 06 February 2007 07:38 PM

shame, cos sara hasnt been given one in ages ......

modern technology eh ???

The cashpoints inside Leeds University dispense £5 notes. Bloody cheapskate students.

Our European brethren aren't keen on anything above a €50 note. €500 notes get them really worked up;) Mind you, it IS a £350 note!!:D

I once opened an account over there, with €18000 in €500 notes, then, later, paid in another €55000 in €500 notes. You should have seen the fuss.:D
