Dude, (or whatever you guys call yourselves over there:D), chill out.

175 bhp is STILL a lot of ponies for a young lad with no experience.
My youngest has just rolled, and written off, a 100bhp Saxo:eek: Rolled it down a 50 foot embankment.........AND WALKED AWAY FROM IT with nothing but a couple of minor bumps and a few scratches from brambles received climbing back up the embankment. Doing no more than 50 mph, according to witnesses who stopped at the scene, on a wet road. Braked, back end stepped out, tried to correct it, clipped a kerb and WHAM!

The traffic officer told me that she'd attended accidents where the car was FAR less damaged than my lad's, and the drivers were pulled out dead:(

People on here aghast at you driving a car like yours, even if "only" 175 bhp, are probably fathers, (like me), brothers, uncles etc, thinking of how your parents/friends/siblings are going to feel if you total it, and DON'T walk away.

Take care, Alcazar

There are no corners in america, he'll be fine.

monkeysan 06 February 2007 09:37 AM

should this kind of angst not be saved for your myspace blog?

SivMY05Sti 06 February 2007 10:21 AM

Spent first three years driving a 1.0 Nova after passing my test - should be the rule IMHO.......

Not necesarily a Nova.....there all 2 litres now :lol1:

But 60/70 bhp max sounds about right....

Flamesuit zipped up....;)

silverscoobydan 06 February 2007 11:04 AM

In England there is no chance a lad of your age could afford to buy, insure and run a scoob of any description. Ignore the idiots, enjoy YOUR car.

If your based in LA, you need an SUV as your first car so you don't have to worry about feejits blabbing on their cellphones whilst lane swapping on the freeway squashing your tin can Geo (Subaru Justy/Suzuki Swift) into the concrete median.

Also I reccomend a gun rack in the passenger seat and plastic sugery to extend your middle index fingers ;)

You all know the americans enjoy nothing more then a bout of death by friendly fire http://pages.infinit.net/bluefire/Im...sfiring_v1.gif

I can just see him now, arriving at highschool and the cheerleaders crowding round listening to FI-DI pumping through the head unit, and then off for a drag race against a 24 litre vette owned by the rich kids father

WetPatch 06 February 2007 02:25 PM

Dont take my comments to heart, i stand buy what i said, 175 bhp is still a massivly powerfull car for a driver barely out of nappys and its just crazy for a first time car owner. Its nothing to do with jelously because if ur dad wants to buy u it then fair play, its about common sense and not being a danger to ur self and other road users. \

And dont tell me ur going to b driving it like has if u had Miss Daisy in the back because u wont, we all like to show off once in awhile.

We have a law here in Ireland where u cant drive a motor bike over 500cc intill ur over 25 and have 2 years experiacne, there should b a similar law for cars and young first time drivers.

Also judging by the response u made to the last post u dont come across has the most mutur person here. All i can say to u is take it easy and keep the showing off to a mimimum.

:iamwithst hmmmm... 1776 ring a bell, something about a bunch of farmers beating the most advanced army of the time.... if your going to bring up the past buddy, at least remember not to leave out the best part.

Sbradley 06 February 2007 02:37 PM

1776...when a bunch of 2nd generation Brits beat a bunch of German mercenaries.

Yep, I love history :) Especially the real stuff...

:D

PS I do actually like Americans and the US generally. We'll leave George Dubya out of it for now. I just can't resist a cheap shot ;)
