Bonnet vent for ind kit on classic

Hi, Is it a good idea to remove the bonnet vent blanking plate on the drivers side of a classic scooby (or make holes in it) as my induction kit is not far from the vent. Or is there a danger of taking in too much air??

I have removed mine and had no problems from that. Someone may tell you otherwise all i can say is mine is fine 97/98 type r btw not sure if the model will make a difference

My 94 WRX ra has an induction kit fitted, and I did some measuring for underbonnet temperatures last Autumn.
With the normal vent in place the temperature was over 30deg going up towards 40 when stopped.
I fitted an induction kit scoop from drmotorsport and tried again. Temperatures have dropped to just under 20deg.

The more cool air to an induction kit the better.

i have a 93 wrx .this was alreadly done when i bought the car...
took it out one rainy day and the car started to hesitate...

might not be a good plan in winter (large ammounts of water/snow/other in there could be unhealthy)

surely when you wash it the induction kit would get soaked...

You may want to read the comments by Zen Performance in this thread before you go removing the backing plates/fitting an induction scoop

glad i read that, was thinking of 1, but not now lol!

The mini scoop I've got has an undertray, so the air goes to the front of the induction kit and does not drop water onto the filter itself.
Been using it since October and it works great.

Yesterday the underbonnet temperature at the induction kit was 9 deg. :thumb:
Without the scoop it would have been high 20's/ low 30's.:nono:
