My95wrx won't start, fan is coming on with ignition even though it's stone cold? elp?

Tried resetting the ecu
Tried Unplugging the MAF
Tried more power with a new battery
Tried reconnecting the error detection connectors
Triep pushing it down a hill
Tried pouring some petrol on it
Tried flicking the aftermarket switch under the steering wheel (Immobiliser??)

and she still won't turn over....

Has anyone got any ideas all answers apprecited no matter how daft! You just never know it might work....

if the fans come on with the ignition switch then the coolant temp sensor is mostlikely faulty.

when you say it won't turn over do you really mean that? the start is not turning?

it's turning over but it's not firing up, it's not even trying...

the fault only occured when i changed the coolant and reset the ecu, temperature gauge went through the roof....car switched off and hasn't fired up since....

cheers

you turned the car off or it died?

sounds like you may have damaged something when it overheated.. head gasket for example.

I put coolant in it, as when I got it there was only rusty water in the rad....and it was blowing water out the coolant bottle when reved hard....

Bought the car as a project, I knew it was overheating but as the speedo was off the car wouldn't rev past 4500rpm so it would not overheat, Only drove it about a mile before the temperature gauge hit the roof, turned it off immediatley and let the fan cool the car down.....which it did but the car would not restart afterwards......

It did not loose any water when the gauge went up, I had to put about another 2 liters in the coolng system as I could only fit about 5 liters in the cooling system after the refill, I believe that's why my gauge went through the roof as there was not enough water in the system at the time...

Resetting the ecu was happening at the same time the temp gauge went north.....

If the head was gone would the car refuse to start, have I any way of testing the head myslef, I have a tone of tools in the garage, what do I need to test the head when the car won't start.....

compression test.. I agree though it does seem weird it wont start even if there is a fault like head gasket.

have you checked for spark, fuel etc..

No, how should I go about it.....

Forgive me for all the questions this is my first scooby, I'm used to german machines....and this is a whole new ball game...no mechanic wants to touch the scooby so i'm going to have to do as much as i can myself...

I'm giving up for the evening and gonna go down town and have a few pints of the black stuff...

if you could give an ideas or links on some test to do it I could do it would be much appricated....

thanks
Pat

does seem strange.
Maybe headgasket gone, water blown into 1 or more pistons and flooded ?
Take plugs out and check if wet with coolant.
