November 4th we were with 3 dutch and 1 belgian (Theo - Evilbevel) scoobs at PowerStation and did beside the bumpsteer-removal a powerrun;

All 4 scoobs were EMS-tuned and had an open exhaust, 4 different backboxes (Frank: Supersprint, Theo: Laser, Richard: Remus, Geert: Sebring-SS).
The rolling-road results:

Theo: 260 BHP, 249 lbf-ft
Geert: 259,5 BHP, 248 lbf-ft
Richard: 249 BHP, 250 lbf-ft
Frank: 233 BHP, 249 lbf-ft

For Theo this was 2e result, 1e run bit better: 265 BHP, 252 lbf-ft.
Also Frank 2e run: about the same result.

The first three had about the same torque-curve. The graph of the 233BHP-scoob was a bit less, not so quick 'high', and not so nice 'flat' as the others.

Striking were the CO-results: The ‘better’ scoobs stayed just beneath 10%, the 'poor' one went above 10%.
Dirk said that one was too rich fuelled, and that should explain the less power-result.

But what does these RR-results mean in "real world" highway-situation?

Last weekend we tried out on Autobahn: Frank's scoob alongside Geert's scoob,
rolling-road 233 BHP against 259,5; the last also with a bit better torque-curve.

Did it so:
Scoobs alongside each other, speed about 60-70 mph, than full throttle in 4th as well in 5th gear.
Whe had a third man in one of the cars, for the "go"-signal and for "safety-lookin-around". This third man changed every run from one car to the other.
We compared about 10 times, in different lanes (wind!), different directions, different gears (4 & 5).

Result: about EQUAL(LY) QUICK / FAST!!!.

The car that had the third man (80 kg) 'aboard' was every time the less quick one, but never more than (half) a car-length. No real differences in acceleration, nor in topspeed.

And, in a way, this was the result we expected, as this two cars "travelled together" more times (to Nurburg-Ring), and we never had an idea one of the two was quicker/faster.

So, a powerrun and RR-results are fun, but what is it saying (like stated in the other PS-topic here) about real road-performance?

Geert,

Given the figures you all got, it's hardly surprising. You all have 250ftlbs of torque (approx') and that's what you were really comparing. The bhp figures will only play any part when you're doing circa 6~7k rpm.

All that aside, you all have great figures for UK/EU spec cars.

Mark.

Mark's right. As your torque figures are all pretty much identical there will be little difference on the road between any of you.
Round the Ring though, that's another matter. Depends on which one of you has the bigger cahooners! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif
