todays mod, was not without a problem

I managed to shear the inside of my locking wheel nut off inside the nut, now does anyone have a solution to this, if i could be bothered or if it was worth it i could pick the pieces out of the nut.

Will Subaru have a nut to get me out of trouble, obviously will be getting a new set of lockers so it does not matter if they are unusable after removal.

Any other sudgestions :wonder:

Use a socket that is really tight, should be able to get it of that way

cookstar 04 February 2007 07:05 PM

didnt want to go down this route, do you reckon a tyre shop will have to proper removal tool

Might be worth giving Elite (in Rainham) a call. They might be able to help. Failing that, try your local Subaru dealer.

cookstar 04 February 2007 07:22 PM

will make some calls tomorrow, whats that guys name at Elites, is it Barry :wonder:

Mark,

It may have damaged the thread on the hub stud....

there only about £3.50 from a subaru dealer, but you have to take the brake system off to get to the HUB, then a heavy hammer to push the old stud out. then use some copper ease to pull the new one back through, using a wheel nut to pull it through, real tight fit...

Had to replace a couple of mine as I have a habbit of over tightening wheel nuts...

Now use a torque wrench every time, keep it in the boot incase I get a punchure...:thumb:

Give me a shout if you need a hand to do it.;)

Turbo_T 04 February 2007 07:52 PM

what sort of locker is it cookstar ?

Will do mate, i was going to change all the studs anyway, i have a new set to go on al ready, its just getting the actual nut off without the key thats the prob.

Was thinking about investing in a torque wrench to to be honest.

This is one of the nuts that was removed before the key/socket/whatever you call it broke

Has it actually broke the key section?

when I broke mine it just broke the outer edge on one side, and I still managed to get it undone... I'll be off work tomorrow if you need a hand mate.

Thats what happened to me. Called Martin @ Wilson and told him. Went down there they removed the locking nuts with the master key and gave me a new set free for charge.

Cookstar, Sorry to hear about your lockers mate, I am also in Basildon and as a last resort get yourself an extension bar and I will weld it to each nut so you can undo with a ratchet.

PM me if you need help:thumb:
