Pro class

How do you get into the "Pro Class"?

Do you need to have proven time sheets or something?

ex-webby 04 February 2007 01:24 PM

drb

Classification happens as you run on the day. If you run fast enough, you are classified in the pro category, otherwise you'll be classified in whichever bracket you fall into.

drb5 04 February 2007 01:50 PM

Ah right. The way it was worded, it sounded like it was a classification BEFORE the event.

Cheers.

Any of the top cars who have already proven sub 11.3s will be auto listed as pro class entries unless we are told otherwise, ie Andy F, Pavlo, etc etc. They already have proven times @ Elvington and will usually form the basis of the class.
as mentioned above, anyone else who then runs sub 11.3s on the day will automatically move up into that class regardless. The vast majority of cars (ie most competitors-unproven) will just start in the lowest class initially and will then auto-move up through the ranks to the appropriate class after their first run of the day/subsequent runs.

Additionally if a competitor has a proven time slip from say pod/elsewhere of sub 11.3s recently (and can email me a copy) then we can also pre-list them in pro class if they wish.
cheers

Chris my car is only a ppp'd wrx i am hopeing to mod the car but you know how it is money has to be earn't first ...

my best time is a 14.4 Q/M

so would that mean in my class i'd be competing against similer cars ... and there is a chance to win things..... ive entered for the hell off it and the thrill factor as i did last year but this if i understand things makes it intresting

either way I cannot wait :D

Cheers JB

Dill_typeR 05 February 2007 08:45 PM

Don't wanna get much faster than that for a prize then, 14.3 bracket. i think its a very fair way of managing the cars, gives everyone a chance:)

chrisT.O.T.B. 05 February 2007 11:03 PM

due to the nature of "bracket racing" on the 1/4m which is what we are doing, everyone will end up racing similar power cars by virtue of the fact the quicker cars migrate up through the classes as the day wears on. so even the standard cars in the 14.3s bracket class will have the same amount of fun as the top classes :-)

JAKbauer24 05 February 2007 11:18 PM

big repect chris for this gives everyone a chance i lined up against the some fooking fast cars last year and my heart just sank .... this is quality though new suspension for the handerling track next then no need for a gigantic turbo anymore

thanks for your time chris

So the pro mainly being tuners, if a private entrance runs a quicker than 11.3 they will automatically be competing against the likes of the sub 10 second cars. I s there any distinguishing point between the tuners and the private runners in this sub 11.3 section?

Neilo 25 February 2007 04:36 PM

unlikely to be....do you think you will dip under 11.3?

Slowboy Racing 25 February 2007 04:50 PM

I did last year no probs at all :)

Not that I mind Just seems a little harsh IMHO considering there will be a few more private cars running those times and lower and to be put into the "Big league" for running 11.3 or lower doesn’t seem right, at least not if you follow the rate at which cars have been coming on over the last year. Pro Class would normally fall in the sub 10 bracket?

Neilo 25 February 2007 05:38 PM

id agree with you to a certain degree, maybe next year they will make pro class 10.5 or something....

is there not a limbo between 11.3 and 11.5 this year? what happens if you do 11.4?

Anything can happen on the day, you never know.

Running a very low 11 or quicker is good work (only 2 cars managed it at SSO last year), just because your a privateer doesnt mean you should have your own private sub 11.3 catergory.

When and where did you run a very low 11 with ease? I wasnt aware of many doing this last year.

Dill_typeR 25 February 2007 07:05 PM

Could have another bracket of 11.3-10.3

or separate pro's from general public, but then theres technicalities of whats 'pro' and what isn't

Slowboy Racing 25 February 2007 09:53 PM

Anything can happen on the day your right, and I am more than aware of this and also more than aware of how many hours’ swet money and tears it takes although I appreciate your concern Steven……….

At what point did I ask for my own private category? I am simply asking a question and expressing my opinion.

I feel for some reason you’re having a pop at me? Just because you don’t here of my car does not mean it didn’t run a particular time does it, all is not reported to you

In fact it was “one of those days” My first trip to the pod I ran 11.1 I would also like to add the clutch gave up when I hit second and slipped in every change to fourth, I had no rev counter, and to top it of we later found out another serious issue affecting performance. So all in all for a of day I would say it was quite good. Unfortunately due to issue and money I could not get the car back on the road the remaining season so maybe this is why you have not seen it.

Just because I don’t boast about times dose not mean to say I didn’t run them in fact this is the first time its been mentioned In nearly a year and I did not bring it up so this is not a brag.

So I guess the question your still asking is where the proof is. Just ask Mark or even Andy they both saw it Red Line Rumble 2006 infact my slower times are on the redline site.

Neil

Eddited to say i was having a bad day, this reply sounds a little harsh it was not intended that way. ;)

pro class is basically the term for any car under 11.3s, and it will of course include ANY car that runs under that time. if however a sponsor came forward with a trophy/prize for fastest privateer, then we'd be happy to dicuss that option obviously. the distinction between privateer and tuner is very hard to judge sometimes tho, we have private entries @ totb who have spent more than some of the tuners have on their demo cars.

Slowboy Racing 26 February 2007 08:12 PM

It's how the various pc programs are set up for as used by straightliners for their bracket racing groups.

Steven, Un-ink is Neil Case, I think you may also have been there that day ?

Interesting that after the run, Neil was not too impressed with his time !! Mark and I were jumping up and down cheering, not many cars do a debut run thats a cats whisker from the 10's !!

Regards "Pro class" that is really just the lower time bracket, its not the same as the "Pro drag" class that will be run at TOTB for proper drag cars.

Andy

Dill_typeR 26 February 2007 10:20 PM

Andy F

Do you mind waiting till later of to do your runs so i can watch :lol1:

Obviously the world rotates around me.

Slowboy Racing 26 February 2007 10:47 PM

Andy I was impressed with my time in fact I was totally chuffed. I had a call the following day to say that I won the class it really made it all worth while.

I was despondent at the time because the motor had issue that I new was not a good which ultimately let to the car being of the road for the remaining year, I even mentioned this to mark at the time, it was due to this more than anything I probably didn’t seem that chuffed.

Neil

Andy.F 27 February 2007 10:51 PM

No problem Neil, I was just making the point that you were not running round shouting about the time you ran, Steven may have missed it.

Andy

P20SPD 28 February 2007 10:32 AM

Didnt realise Un Ink was Neil, i wasnt there at redline rumble, as i had to help Emma at a horse show, but i do recall Mark telling me about Neil's time that day.

Neil, cheers for the PM.
