PPP and insurance

I have an sti on 2004 plate with the ppp pack fitted at pdi , heard it said that if fitted at pdi does'nt get classed as a mod but if fitted at 1000 mile or after the car is registered then it's a mod so the insurance will go up .
Getting quite varied quotes from £599 up to £900 . Standard 04 sti quoted at £436 , same company with ppp added £760 . Wr1 with same company £467 !.
Who's the best deal and anyone know if when the ppp was fitted makes any difference as some sites have sti uk (261) and sti uk (301) ?

I dont have any clear guidance...

but...I did have a long converstion with RAC Insurance trying to explain what PPP is, in the end they asked have i modified it...

I explained it was a dealer fit package fitted from new, they said that i hadn't modifed it therefore it was classed as Sti Type UK only..

Interestingly enough on number plate searches it cam back as a WR1... its black with a DCCD!

On some sites mine comes back as wr1 but is a sti uk and black again with dccd ! Strange . Rang admiral that said it was a wr1 at £536 when i told them it's an sti with ppp fitted from new they they said £630 ! so it appears a 320 bhp wr1 is cheaper to insure then a 305bhp sti with the approved subaru upgrade , and after speaking to a dealer was told that the wr1 gets the ecu upgrade after importing to avoid the emissions regulations and all that .So there is'nt any difference in the fact that both the wr1 (has'nt got ecu upgrade fitted at production)and sti with ppp fitted at pdi , so why is the sti with ppp more ! nuts :freak3:

Just gone onto another online insurance web site and found that if i change the year of my car to a 2005 ( car is dec 23 04 ) it now shows a wrx sti 301 bhp type uk is this the ppp pack ?

MICAWRX 01 February 2007 10:20 PM

I would say so.. specifically says 301bhp?? that is bound to be the PPP.. may try that... good find

Checked with subaru and if fitted at pdi is not counted as a mod , rang insurance comp and told them and said it's on there site as a 2005 model and not insurance has come down to £565 , £200 cheaper ! and a plan on same quote but half the excess , so will be giving a plan a ring in a week or so . :)
