Standard exhaust????
 

Any body that has read my other posts will realise im not technically minded when it comes to cars, basically im looking for a different exhaust as my MY99 has a noisey one put on by the previous owner, sounds bit like what a 17 year old would put on his Nova, wondered which part of exhaust id need to change to make it quiter and would this effect the performance?

Hi there 2pac,

You most likely need to change the backbox to make it quieter (This is the part that is furthest to the back of the car).

If the previous owner decatted the car (replaced the catalytic converters with straight through pipes), it will still be a bit loud, but the backbox will make it a lot quieter.

I don't think that there will be a huge performance decrease to be honest, but I'm not an expert either :)

changing the back box should be fine re bhp - for "quiet" try Subaru (of course !), Milltek, Revolution.

Plenty of BBs around from people changing to noisier ones. I gave my old 03STi one away to a good home, didn't have the heart to ask for any money as it had little value. Place an ad in the wanted section.
