induction kits or panel filters??

Hi,just after your thoughts realy.i have a ppp my00 classic, ive got the prodrive ecu of course but changed the exhaust for a afterburner centre decate and a afterburner vortex rear box,ive retained the stardard air box but have replaced the filter with hks super hybrid one........is it worth changing to an induction kit, or are simply replacing the filters with performance ones which ive been doing good enough?.........i welcome your advce...:notworthy

i went from a std panel filter to a k&N Induction kit and now back to STI panel filter. in all honesty i think the STI filter is good enough for the job.

Panel filter is the best option, MY99/00 MAF's don't respond to well to IK's.
Also they can draw hotair in from the engine bay with proper ducting.

Also no offence but HKS filters breathe well but filtration is poor.
Go for a lightly oiled version eg Green, K&N etc or a STi one.
Airbox with panel is good enough for at least 300bhp.

Leave it as it is - or budget for a new MAF .........

i had induction kit on my 2004 wrx and to be honest i did not notice any difference in performance
it just had induction noise and the revs were eratic when coming back down to idle and almost cut out presume maf giving wrong signals to ecu? so i have refitted standard air box with k&n panel filter

I always think of induction kits as bad, because all they do is suck up warm air from the engine. A good panel filter in a cool box, with cold air feed should do the trick.

thanks guys,i agree that induction kits do suck warm air from the engine bay even if you have a cold air feed etc..........i think ill stick to the panel filter but change to one that filters better then hks........sti panel maybe or k/n...:thumb:
