Octane booster - Imported cars

Can someone advise on how true this is please. The tuning shop I use has advised me to use octane booster when putting petrol in . Does this make much impact and how much damage could be done not using it. He says he uses it on all his cars imported or not.

I also mentioned adding an induction kit and they think it will be good with the proposed ecu remap, yet on here I have read how and induction kit is not a good idea.

any advise will be much appreciated

thanks

If you're going for a remap, then there is no need for the octane booster, unless you want to. The remap will be done for whatever fuel you prefer.

It is originally required/recommended for JDM cars as they are run on 100 RON fuel.

The induction kit query comes down to if fitted without a remap, could cause problems. But no problems if done at remap time.

Depends on what year your import is (i've a 93wrx and have run it without octane booster for 2 years and have had no problems) it seems that 100 RON fuel wasn't avaliable when the impreza came out (1992) and was run on a equivalent super unleaded.
The early cars allegedley have 'better' maf than later models (i've got an Apexi and once again had no problems but really does need to be sheilded form the engine bay).
