Went out for a quick blast last night.
WOW! the scoobs just so much faster this year than it was last year in the cold. Must have loosened up sooo much since last winter. Plus, ive got much more accurate on changing gear, so I dont hit that low boost setting when changing up after hitting the rev limiter. lurvely! robski |
Know what u mean Rob!!! Aint so nice when U have 2 work outside though!

What cold weather, its lovley over here in Florida.
(Im at a Conference) |
Robski,
Funny enough I was thinking of posting exactly the same thing. The car is soooooo responsive and soooo damn right fast in this weather. bkar |
Ahh its great
nice little trip out again tonight wish my filter would turn up tho! robski |
Only down side is some serious fog and black ice this morning. Saw several cars off the road (couple in a ditch) - mate of mine had to call an amubulance for another accident he saw this morning aswell.
I could feel the car twitching on several occassions - not nice and you've still got people sitting up your exhaust pipe.. Chris |
aye
I spun my scoob last year (well through 180 degrees, felt like burnsey for about 5 secs, until I eventually managed to stop pointing in the right direction) I am much much more careful now to listen to the radio, when they say there may be ice, I believe them! last year I didnt, and nearly regretted it! robski |
Robski,
I'm curious, how did you manage to spin through 180 degrees and end up pointing the right direction? |
robertio,
cant find my original post about this a year ago. I came round a corner, and hit some black ice, the back snapped round, so I corrected, which spun me back the other direction, I repeated this maneuver a couple of times, and managed to stop facing in the right direction. I think only the front left actually had any grip, which was what spun me as I was turning left as I hit the ice the person I was following, a ways in front had taken the corner much slower, and said he had an amazing light show in his mirror as my lights lit up the countryside in either direction a couple of times!! so I was only ever 90 degs from straight on, but +/- 90 hence 180 in total if you get my drift was fun looking back, but not whilst it was happening :O robski |
ChrisL
Know what you mean - all four tyres were searching for grip alternately yesterday morning - squirms around a bit nervously when it's like that doesn't it!! Robski Most important thing - soon be ski time - yippee!! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif |
Dave
I was quite surprised. This is the first time since I've had the car that I have experienced black ice. At least it gives you a little warning. I remember when I had a 205GTI 1.6 with no powersteering. It was great, you got so much feedback through the wheel, you could always tell when it was getting icy. Mind you on days like this, I wouldn't swap AWD for anything. Cheers Chris |
Dave would, he says he'll swap you his AWD for a 13yrd ols skoolkid and you can keep her Dairylea http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

Ahh, do I love the british weather!!
I managed to come a croper on black ice yesterday morning. Sent my car sideways around a roundabout and then hit the kerb and completly trashed my front left alloy. Could of been worse though, as the suspension an axel seem fine (tracking ain't quite right though) and I also managed to stop about 5" away from a lamp post. Oh well, hopefully the price of a set of alloys will make me drive around a bit more carefully in the future! We live and learn...... Regards Andy |
The cold is nice for the engine, but the leaves and damp are no good for grip http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif
I found a fellow Scooby owner in a hedge on Sunday, luckily he was OK and the car was not too damaged. He had fishtailed after clipping a soft bank and spun on a tree covered downhill curve VERY SLIPPY. If I hadn't stopped to offer help I would not have appreciated just how slippy it was! Take it easy out there - it's not just trains that slip on leaves http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif Chris |
