I'll take the 911.

dashpig 27 January 2007 08:03 AM

Tim certainly likes his sideways tire-screetchy action shots :wonder:

Still for the price differential would get the scoob - then add some mods :norty: with the money i've "saved" :thumb:

davyboy 27 January 2007 08:33 AM

If could afford a 911, then you'd not buy a Subaru.

PMSL watch the Subaru understeer at 3.14

nope not for me - don't like 911's never have, yes they may be great handling cars etc etc, but i just can't get that worked up about them :Whatever_

Much much more of a scooby, old AM V8, Lotus Carlton, Lambo type of preferences for me :thumb:

davyboy 27 January 2007 09:10 AM

Now read what I said again.....

If you could afford a 911 eg a 60k car.....then you'd not buy a Subaru.

Notice also that the scooby came first in the list - trust me that was deliberate :thumb:

I have to agree. I've always preferred the look of the rally cars to the 'supercars'. If I could afford to buy a £60k Porsche i'd rather split the money, and buy a decent Evo and a new Impreza. I'd much rather have a few top of the range rally type cars than one more expensive Porsche.

davyboy 27 January 2007 09:21 AM

Thats what you say now, as you can't afford one ;)

Once you do have enough for a 60k car, my guess is you wont be looking at Jap clutter.

:lol1: yup and probably never will either the way the existing scoob eats the money, but hey i'm more than happy with my "Jap clutter" :D

Personally i don't think they are, but maybe i'm just extremely thankful i can afford to buy and run one and just overlook this fact ;)

ru' 27 January 2007 09:34 AM

4s is about £72k list without the ceramic brakes...

When I was a lad I had posters of rally cars not Porsche's. I couldn't afford either back then. I'm not intereted in that brand. They don't do anything for me.

andythejock01wrx 27 January 2007 10:11 AM

Must admit, Id go for the 911 too ! If i had 60k, I'd probably buy a nearly new 911 Turbo rather than brand new normally aspirated 911.

Actually, if I sold the house and just slept in a sleeping bag in the car.........

I agree with you there. Personally I just don't like porsche's. There would be plenty of other cars I would like before a Porsche and a highly modded Scoob would be one of them.

Wolfie.

Lee_1075 27 January 2007 12:21 PM

This film clip isnt about which of the two cars is the best, its about the fact that only Porsche and Subaru use Boxer engines and both are availble with four wheel drive systems.

scoobfan 27 January 2007 01:52 PM

Mates got the Carrera S convert, I fell like a pimp in it.

Give me the rally slag look any day;)

Bug Eyed Peas 27 January 2007 02:05 PM

I saw a Carrera 4s in the flesh last week, :luvlove: :luvlove:
Nice car, but not practical for me, yet :norty:

Cool vid tho. :thumb:

I've never really been into Porsche either, but having recently been loaned a new 911 Carerra 4S for a 24Hr test drive courtesy of Porsche GB I've now become pretty interested in them. So at least their marketing is working. You never know I may get a Cayman in the future. Anyway back to the point......

The Porsche is such an uplift in quality and the suspension does everything it has to do without being as hard as the Subarus. Oh, and that Sport Button :) :) :)

If I was in the position to spend £60k on a car - I wouldn't dream of buying another Impreza. A 911 would definitely be the first thing on my list. Imprezas are fast point to point cars and very forgiving not to mention tuneable but what you have to do to them to get them to how they SHOULD drive out of the factory...

If I had 60k to blow, I wouldn't have to 'split' my funds and buy two 30k cars. I'd just buy another 60k car as well with the rest of my stash. Maybe a Maserati Quattroporte or similar for family outings. I doubt anyone would, in real life be faced with having to spend 60k on a car and having to mull over whether to get a 911 or two Japanese saloons. If you've that much to spend on a motor, chances are you've got a lot more besides and you're about as likely to buy a Subaru or a Mitsubishi as you are a Daewoo or a Hyundai.

just a shame its not in english other wise looks a good video

Andy 02STI 27 January 2007 04:30 PM

Is it me or did that STI redline at 7000rpm - I thought they would all be 7500 like the older ones??

Not bothered about the debate on what car to buy at 60k - just because someone can afford 60k on a car doesnt mean they go out and buy one.

scoobydooooo 27 January 2007 04:34 PM

yes it does:)

scoobfan 27 January 2007 04:35 PM

If I had 60K it would be the RS6 Avant for me, I need an estate for
all my fishing tackle.:D

Well that was not the idea of this post, but it is good to see that it makes some impression!

I would buy a Type25 and a SW with the PPP! With the money left over I would go on holidays!!!! :norty: :norty:

Why's everyone still banging on about 60k???

Janspeed 27 January 2007 05:51 PM

The fact is boh cars are great, even though their design concept is quite different (in my opinion!).

The Germans are great at reviewing cars, you could even say that they are shoulder to shoulder with TG.

Do think they are more technical than TG though, and I like that!
