Great day at Donnington today, excellent Scoob presence, weather stayed dry, even though it was freezing cold.

I was too much of a wuss http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/tongue.gif to take my car on track, so thought I'd take a few photos instead. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

Apologies for the poor quality of the pics, but I accidently left the digi camera on its lowest resolution/quality.

Arrived there, and was quite embarressed as my car was the dirtiest of all the 35 or so Subarus...

http://www.evosix.f9.co.uk/mycar.jpg

...this was soon changed however by a certain Green MY98 http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

http://www.evosix.f9.co.uk/dirtystef.jpg

Didn't see JohnF's Westie on track, can only assume it had problems http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif... hope it's nothing too serious.

I think John had some competition for the 'speed freak' title today, from another Westifield... this time powered by a 5.0 TVR V8. - Seen here chasing a full race spec Escort Cosworth

dingy 13 November 2000 12:11 AM

I had an excellent day.
Took me most of the day to get used to the car and track, couldn't keep up will the scoob's on the bends but none of yer could keep with me on the straight's, so when i get some AP's you'll all be seeing the back end of a MK II.

Had some fun on the last session a bit of sideways actions coming onto pitt straight, anyone get any photo's

Steve

Mossman 13 November 2000 08:06 AM

Scott J Davies 13 November 2000 10:02 AM

The Donno's Boll0cks

The best track day yet, awesome weather, excellent track, top action.

That Turquoise Westie had 450 hp http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/eek.gif
and its number plate was L1 4 KOF http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

I am happy to say that I also had reported flame action coming from my car he he he Subaru Grilled Whoppers.

RichB 13 November 2000 11:05 AM

Scott,
I have some of your firebreathing antics on video from Chucks 22B, I'll send you an MPEG when I've sorted it out.
RichB

Scott J Davies 13 November 2000 11:16 AM

Rich

If you could I would be most grateful. God bless you and all that sail with you.

Some other memorable moments from the day.

1. 1st lap of the first session, Doc Jock falling out with some grass and then cool as a cucumber, placing the car back on the track for some action http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

2. The awesome tussle’s I had with the Rik from PowerStation, the best session of the day when I over took you, you then over took me (bloody Evo 5), then I got the tail from the ballistic Westie and overtook you again. Awesome M8.

3. The Comma Racing spec Cossey overtaking me like I was in reverse.

4. My brake fading 6 pot Tarox brakes that were ok until my rear caliper decided to spit out one of the pads at the top of the start finish straight, no brakes, F**k, spin, grass, Phew, Fing Tarox.

5. The racing Vauxhall that span behind me, all because he struggled to keep up http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

6. The Howl of Petes Ra, the thunder of the Scoobymania Type R, the colour of Stefs Car, he he

7. Poor John's Westie, Hope you sort out that Turbo.

8. Putting faces to names, SDB, Harj, John F, Rich R, The RA lads.

What a top day!!!

Edit: PS apologies to the chap I cut up on the last session of the day, my brakes decided they had had enough, Fing Tarox;, I apologised after http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

Dingy,

Is yours the white MK11 Escort with very loud dump valve? If so may have some shots. Took a couple of reels but not had them developed yet, I'll let you now.

Cheers
Lee

dingy 13 November 2000 02:42 PM

White MK II yes.
DUMP VALVE, no way through it away, the only noise is the wastegate chatter, Not many big HP RS boys run dump valves.

Let us know about the piccies, as our camera messed up so we don't have any piccies

Mossman 13 November 2000 03:03 PM

SimonM,

I was not the passenger when the Westie had a little moment! THANK GOD!!!! The track may have been closed for hours due to the mess http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

It was fantastic chasing the Comma Cossie through Craners!

Cheers,

Jon

howardb 13 November 2000 03:48 PM

Dingy,
whats the spec of your Escort??

Pete Croney 13 November 2000 05:51 PM

Chris Twigger was the passenger.

Hilarious sight.

He looked like a "before and after" photo... his left side was covered in mud, from waist to hair, his right side was perfectly clean http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

johnfelstead 13 November 2000 05:52 PM

Anyone ever heard of a cooling down lap, eh richard?? http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

We could allways go balls out till the pit entrance, but you wont have much left of a 22B to drive when you come over!! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/tongue.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

will know the score re my turbo this weekend, would you believe the guy who made it for me was with Gareth LLoyd in the Escort Cossie, he sponsors the car http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/rolleyes.gif
He recons my exhaust impellor blades have got so hot they expanded and hit the housing, causing them to break off.

Heat, in my car, surely not!!! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif LOL

johnfelstead 13 November 2000 05:57 PM

As a side note, the green westie has 380BHP.
I have built some 450BHP rover V8's and the only way to do that is to use Wildcat Engineering cylinder heads. Honest Gov, i know rovers like the back of my hand. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

I'll eat that thing for breakfast when i have my chargecooler system installed, i kid you not!! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif LOL

SimonM 13 November 2000 06:17 PM

Jon... they'll have to catch me first http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

Dingy,

Does your car look anything like this:
http://www.evosix.f9.co.uk/rs2k.jpg

...or this:
http://www.evosix.f9.co.uk/rs2k2.jpg

Pete... It was pretty spectacular, but like all the good moments the camera was turned off http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif , so I only got this:

http://www.evosix.f9.co.uk/v8off.jpg

John... hope all is well soon... but that must count as another melting to add to the world record attempt http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

Look forward to seeing the new chargecooled Westie next summer!

Danny Fisher 13 November 2000 08:58 PM

Sadly the little green westie had to call it a day soon after taking to the grass. What a MONSTER.... It was giving John Felstead idea's. Not that he needs much help!

Was a totaly good day, nice COLD dry weather. Just right for a track day.

Thanks to everybody that I blagged rides from. DocJock, stonking brakes, Chucky, I thought you drove really well for only your second or third track day, Tim W. those tyres are only going to get better.

Dan

P.S. Mr.Squires, if your going to let that Harj bloke drove you motor, get him to have some driving lessons...... It felt like it was going backwards. Everything was going past us!!!

rsquire 13 November 2000 09:12 PM

Danny..

Yeah.. Probably because of the latest DMD chip I've had installed in all the team drivers heads.. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

OH DMD = Driving Miss Daisy http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

Thankfully, it was much in evidence this weekend rallying up in Canada on lottsa snow and ice.

Richard

dingy 13 November 2000 09:18 PM

My spec is basically a grp IV spec car, minus the tarmac arches, running a 405bhp / 410Ib Torque cossie lump, T5 Box.
The engine was Built by Harvey Gibbs, usually stuff, WRC spec head gasket / bolts, lightned bottem en, grp A head, wild cams, t34 Hybrid rs500 intercooler, water injection, Ahmed Bajoo Chip, Mongoose exhaust.

I do need some brakes though, so the 6pot AP's are on order, and possible some 4 pots for the rear, depends on the cash flow,

Simon, cheers for the piccies

I have joined the SIDC too so i guess you'll be seeing alot more of me!!

Don Palmer 13 November 2000 09:22 PM

If anyone has a picture of the caterham superlight R doing Craner flat out I'd love one
Don Palmer wetter than better

johnfelstead 13 November 2000 09:29 PM

i must have had a remap Richard, because i had it well sideways trying to take the old hairpin in 5th, and no, it doesnt work http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif LOL

I gave an American chap from virginia a run he wont ever forget i think, he was a little shocked when i accelerated hard after the left kink of craner towards the old hairpin.

He had never been on track or in an Impreza Turbo, he owns an Impreza RS in the USA. Picked an awesome car for his first ever run, doesnt come much better than a 22B.

rsquire 13 November 2000 09:34 PM

john..

Great I was hoping that he'd manage to get there and get into the 22B..

Nice One..

Richard..

Not sure about the "re-map" though, just be careful that you don't start detting or blow a head casket... http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

johnfelstead 13 November 2000 09:56 PM

my head blew years ago Richard, do you think i would do the stuff i do if it hadn't?? http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif LOL

Congrats on the rally result, top banana http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

Stef 14 November 2000 12:08 AM

Scott.
I agree, when I go to a non-SIDC event I would much rather be out playing with non-Scoobs.
Luckily I could as I was doing charity laps, but I think it was a pre-arranged thing.
In the future, they'll hopefull just stick to grouping the cars by driver experience. Much more fun! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

Stef.

Scott J Davies 14 November 2000 10:25 AM

Just the one question about Donno!

Why were all the Scoobs put in one group, I for one was looking forward to mixing it up with the Lotuses/Skylines etc?
