HELLO, think you need to wire in a switching diode so when ignition is off it becomes live for L E D someone more techy will be able to advise better

I used to sell little kits to people to do this.

I assume you have the flashing LED? 12V is it?

I did it using a miniature changeover relay, which I bought for about £1 from Maplins. You can get them here too: Electrical and electronic components from Rapid. Leading UK distributor of components, tools and cables
You DO need to be able to solder, though.

Then I found a permanent, and switched live under the steering column shroud. The permanent went to the diode VIA the relay, which switched it OFF when the ignition was "on".

I MAY have some of the bits left, if you're interested? My LEDs were 5mm HE red, and I had proper holders for them. PM if you need to know more.
