Any (excuse the pun) feedback?

Seriously considering this what with my current addiction to tdu plus forza around the corner (again excuse the pun).

I have the driving force pro 900 degree for the PC, how does it compare?

Not used one myself, but there are damn sexy.

However, there are a couple of issues

(i)Despite being wireless, to get full force feedback, you need to have it plugged into the mains.

(ii)Apparantly there is a problem when you connect 2 wheels to the same machine (not sure if this is likely to affect you)

Other than that, apparantly they are aces.

I got one for Christmas from the other half, no idea how she knew I wanted one ;)

A couple of mates and myself participated in some drunk driving PGR3 (force feedback edition comes bundled) last night and its excellent. Great feedback over the rumble strips :cool: Takes a lot of getting used to, but if you've used a PC wheel you'll know what to expect.

Bit fiddly to set up as mentioned above, but no different to any other I guess. Mains power cable, link cable to pedals and table clamp. Its certainly well made and very solid feeling plus the bonus is it doesn't need to be connected to the console too.

We tried it with TDU as well but it didn't feel quite right, very little feedback so I'm not sure if I had it configured correctly for that game.

Highly recommended though.

Seems worthwhile for forza 2 alone. Did you find it helped stop you spinning out on steep bumpy roads on tdu having more control on inputs? Do you drive with all aids off?

To be expected I guess, frustrating though having already spent that recently on the driving force pro.

Let's hope the latter works with PS3.

The thing I have always found with wheels and games, is that once you start down a path with a gven control method and get used to it, for that particular game, it is very difficult to change. Example, I specifically bought a wheel for DC F355 challenge, and I was ace at it - However, make me play it with a pad and I was rubbish. Conversely, I was completely used to MSR with a pad, if I tried to play it with a wheel I was hopeless.

What I am getting at is that for TDU or PGR3, I am completely used to pad control, If I tried to use a wheel I reckon I would struggle. However, for Forza 2, I will start off with the wheel and will probably be pretty much unbeatable ;)

Overall I would say it is easier with a wheel, because the finer control is that much better due to the minute movement you have to make on a pad is translated to a quarter turn on a wheel if you see what I mean.

Thats bundled with the FF version of PGR3 as far as I know - Not sure if they plan to do a stand alone version. I am waiting for Forza 2 before I buy the inevitable wheel/forza bundle.

I was looking at the wheel today and nearly got it but had a couple of questions to raise.

1.So if its wireless does it have a battery pack like whats on the controllers and can you use a plug and play kit.

2. i take it has a lead to the pedals, would of liked this to be wireless too.

3. Can it be made compatible with a PC so i can play GTR2 ( I tried to get my 360 controller to work with the pc by downloading software but can't get it to work)

Good idea, I think I will wait, as you say that it's inevitable.

My main problem with TDU is that I hate using the analogue shoulder triggers to accelerate and brake, not only do I find the right analog stick much more accurate and intuitive (although of course it does mean you cannot ' left foot brake') I also have a long history of rsi, and using the shoulder triggers really aggravates after a while!

1. Yes, it comes with a battery pack which fits in the side, same as usual controller battery pack.

2. Yes a thin cable with RJ11 type plugs on the end.

I too am waiting for the inevitable Forza bundle :D Already got PGR3, not interested in another copy with FF added as an afterthought!!!

Sad thing is there is no reason they couldn't update it for all previous owners via a dashboard update for the title.

Not everyone is on Live to get updates, so they need to provide a disc to load the drivers. Providing what is technically a free game is a good way to do this.

I'm saying there's no reason they couldn't do both ;)

I have just bought one today , also considered the logitech one but plumped for the official one.. i cant wait to give it a go this weekend, it looks and feels the business..

Right, got mine. set it up, put the disc in and it just plays project gotham straight away and will not load the drivers with an update. So it sort of works but not properly :(

What now??? have i got a disc with no drivers :confused:

What doesn't work properly ? There's no update as such, the copy of PGR3 game is already patched with the drivers.

Still waiting for the FF update for TDU :mad: Patch 3 is supposed to contain the added FF support and Hardcore mode. Edcase, can you get any work from your man in the know ?

Basically, i go into controller options and set it up for wheel A, (its even worse if i don't do this)

1: to start with i can't scroll through my cars in my garage, not a single button will move them

2: when driving its just wierd, throttle only has about 25% power. Steering works fine, gears don't work, when i come to a complete stop i can't set off again even though it says i'm in 1st gear

Its so far out that the drivers just can't be installed

Forget the above, have just loaded it up again and its working fine :confused:

First impresssions, It really works well :) It does'nt wander like other wheels and feels pretty realistic :thumb:

Do the pedals scroll through the cars ? They're the trigger equivalent.

Mines still set on Auto gears at the moment, so my paddles change the view.

Aagh, does that mean TDU controls can't eb changed to move accelerate/brake to the buttons? :eek:

Coming from a PS background, I always have the buttons as accel/brake, and the triggers as gear change. Never been able to get on with the triggers for movement on the xbox or 360.
