NAS - lost comms with Buffalo Linkstation - any ideas ?
Brand new Buffalo LinkstationPro, 300GB
Installed without any problems Added an external USB to the NAS (it backs up the NAS). When formatting it today, it kept failing. Then, I lost all comms with the NAS. Tried uninstalling client software, then re-installing but it couldn't find the NAS on the LAN. Tried emailing Buffalo, but no joy. Anyone been through something similar ? |
Have you disconnected the USB drive ?
The Buffalo "hides" from the network whilst it's formatting or backing up to the USB drive. Have you reset the Linkstation with the USB drive disconnected ? Mark |
Thanks Dark,
Yeah I disconnected the USB drive. Then I got this problem. I've searched the net and a lot of people suggest changing the LAN cable it comes with for a "proper one". Haven't tried the little recessed reset button on the back of the unit. All I've done soe far is use the power button on the front - held it for 5 secs and turned it off / on again. I'm getting steady lights on the fascia, as they should be. I can ping the unit at its DHCP allocated address of 192.168.0.25, but I can get into its config menu via HTTP://192.168.0.25 |
