Gettin new disks + pads, unsure which pads to go for, any advice?
On the verge of getting some of the Ferodo DS2500 pads (4 pot) as ive heard there very good, anyone recommend against them?
When it comes to the disks tho, im looking at around 200/250 max really but have no clue which would suit the ds2500's best? Don't fancy grooved and drillled as they can sometimes crack (so ive been told) just grooved would do :) By the way its a classic turbo (my00 euro import) Full decat and will have other mods but not too heavy, aiming for around 300bhp eventually, so want the stopping power first:thumb: Any suggestions would be great as ive never upgraded my brakes before and am a new to the modding world and dont want to make a crap decision :wonder: |
:(
any help would be much appreicated  |
DS2500 for me every time. The stuff is disc friendly, I've even got a set on the front of G/Fs Mk4 Fiesta with bog standard Halfords discs, huge improvement in braking over Ford pads. £22 each for the discs and £90 for the pads (asperformance).

Mate, I've got red stuff with std discs on my classic and they seem ok. A lot better than the std pads.
Chief had black diamond predator pads with black diamond grooved discs, and they were spot on :thumb: Not sure what make pads he is using now, as they got changed at his last service. Maybe worth thinking about some braided lines. I hear they make the pedal feel a lot more solid when braking as the brake line doesnt expand under pressure. |
Another one for Ferodo DS2500's, just fancied a change so went back to them from Apgid RS42-1 Blacks.
Both very good pads indeed with little difference and good cold working temps. Also went for a set of DBA grooved discs. Got them from Alyn:thumb: Gay gold winter 17's:D http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...ong/DBA650.jpg |
I'm on Mintex 1155's, but I won't be using them again :(

Why don't you like M1155, I have them and there excellent, my car had DS2500 when I bought it, although good performance they sound like a bus stopping !, I've always used Mintex and never had a problem.

I've had them fade a few times after what i'd consider to be very little abuse. I just feel that for the slight difference in cost, the Pagid's I had previously were far better in every department. |
Thanks for ther replys guys, are the ds2500's noisy then :wonder:
Theres a group buy on them at the moment, good price too at £107 for the 4 pot fronts. |
