MY05 WRX PPP installed!

Just reporting back that I got the PPP done yesterday (while car was in for 1st year service) - happy with it.....oh yeah! I know you can get better mods for the cash, etc, etc, but wanting to keep the warranty intact and all that....I am well chuffed.

No tunes required, I just listened to the note of the exhaust all the way home. As it was rush hour when I travelled home I didn't get a chance to play - been out for a blast this afternoon....sweet as. Torque increase is well noticable....and the noise...yeah baby.

Need to do some standing starts to get a feel for 0-60 and will try and clock it. Got 6.04 on a single run (damp and slightly uphill!) with the missus timing it on her mobile just before the pack was done so I'll try the same again soon hopefully.

I am interested in getting this fitted, how much was it? Looking forward to hearing about 0-60 performance.

Mangel 12 January 2007 08:02 PM

Had this done on mine at 1000miles. Was great for a while but then you need more and more and more ha ha ha ha (disappears in a burst of manic laughter)

Freon Warrior 12 January 2007 08:10 PM

Very funny...

jayltee1 12 January 2007 08:13 PM

I also have an addictive nature when it comes to wanting the next thing, but 2 small nippers and a lack of cash will stop that!

Cost me 1100 inclusive of fitting. I'll report back on 0-60 soon as I can. Anyone else got any informal times for 0-60?

Freon Warrior 12 January 2007 08:16 PM

£1100.00 that sounds good I was quoted £1800.00 when I bought the car!

What sort of power is it running at now then?? n how much was it(if u dnt mind me askin)

misty 12 January 2007 08:19 PM

0-60's are only good for bragging down the pub! 80% of real world driving is done between 20mph and 60mph. So that's where you need the feel good factor of loads of torque! combined with low weight and low transmission losses. In short.................................Get an oil burner:D
Dave

jayltee1 12 January 2007 08:19 PM

1800??? The RRP is 1600. Is this for the MY03-05 pack? The dealer I bought from said 1k fitted so I knew others could do a deal. I just said I can't afford anymore that 1200 so can you do a deal. They called me back a day later saying 1100 fitted!

jayltee1 12 January 2007 08:20 PM

I should have said - dealer was in North West - I am in South so wanted to use a local dealer.

Mangel 12 January 2007 08:21 PM

Will try and 0-60 mine some time although I think the clutch is soon to bite the dust finally.

Ppack is 260 BHP ish I think and 0-60 is around 5.4 from memory.

I now at around 330 (well 329.4 if ya gonna be picky) 0-60 in no idea

As for the oil burner eeeeerrrr no they're for commuting and I use a rubbishy scooter for that!!

jayltee1 12 January 2007 08:23 PM

I like my 0-60 times....makes me feel good....and it helps with the traffic light drag :)

MY05 WRX was 225PS (221 bhp) upto 265PS (261bhp) according to the subaru website.

jayltee1 12 January 2007 08:24 PM

Subaru site says WRX PPP = 4.8 0-60 if you believe them.

theboy 12 January 2007 08:25 PM

Subaru quote a 0 - 62 time of 4.8 secs with the kit fitted, i have tried timing it and you seem to get low 5 secs but this was a very rough measurement. There is a noticble difference between this and the standard WRX when you drive them back to back.

theboy 12 January 2007 08:25 PM

Dam Jay beat me!!!!

Hungrytang 12 January 2007 08:28 PM

jayltee1 is your car a UK or a euro import??

Mangel 12 January 2007 08:29 PM

Subaru's 0-60 will be a full bore launch 5500 rpm and dump the brand new clutch!!!

Freon Warrior 12 January 2007 08:40 PM

jayltee1. where abouts are you?

JonesyWRX 12 January 2007 08:42 PM

Also remember the figs quoted are 0-60mph.... most maufacturers performance figures are quoted 0 - 100 kph ie 0-62mph. Small I know, but it makes a difference.

jayltee1 12 January 2007 08:43 PM

Car is UK WRX. I am sure my clutch wont last long. I am in Reading.
Jase.

In time you will come to embrace the sooty ones! I've Done the scooby, evo, ctr, thing and it dulls with time! With age comes wisdom, and with wisdom comes diesel and the pleasure of riding a huge wave of torque at a miniscule cost.

Freon Warrior 12 January 2007 08:46 PM

Jase which dealer did it for you Basingstoke?

Mangel 12 January 2007 08:50 PM

Done sooties too bu only as transport not as fun.

Once I end up do some serious mileage again I buy and oil burner dogger again!!

and as for age..........I'm not as young as I may appear (1 daughter and the next one immenently due have seen to that). I just don't do loads of miles on anything other than the train!!

jayltee1 12 January 2007 08:58 PM

Dealer was in Twyford. Had a smog machine before and will again once I have to do miles with work. Until then.....gimme the power.

Freon Warrior 12 January 2007 09:01 PM

Thanks Jase I will give them a call and mention your name ;-))

jayltee1 12 January 2007 09:05 PM

No worries - I have mine done :)

Smifster 12 January 2007 10:20 PM

I really rate the boyz down at Webbers in Basingstoke. I took my old '03 there for servicing. Now that I have a brand new 56 plate WRX which I got from Webbers, the guys in the servicing department have looked after me well. Ordered my PPP for £1,700.00 which will be fitted with the lowering springs in a week or two and then when the spoilers that I ordered come in (4 weeks from Japan) they will fit them. These boyz have done me a really good deal. If you ask for Stuart and mention me (James Smith) they will help. As for the stats for the PPP, it takes it from 230PS to 270PS, 0 - 60 is 5.3 secs.

Just in case anyone is interested the figures for the MY03-05 are 0-60 5.5 -> 4.8 (225PS -> 265PS) as seen here on subaru website:
http://www.subaru.co.uk/IMGGB/WWW/Subaru_Accessories.nsf/NULL/FCF6E8E3044B3D2280256DDD00399AB7/$FILE/03MY%20WRX%20PPP.pdf

The MY06 that Smifster mentions has different gains from the PPP with 0-60 from 5.9 -> 5.3 (230PS -> 270PS):
http://www.subaru.co.uk/imggb/www/subaru_accessories.nsf/NULL/3FA8A0170FA8927D8025715400363550/$FILE/2006%20WRX%20PPP.pdf

The extra torque of the 2.5 engine pulls this back in the 0-100 stakes where they are only 0.1 difference. This is obvoiusly not the real world as we don't have test conditions every day so most people will not care - I however like to give people facts if asked and this is the only way for me to stop someone saying I am making it up!

Now I've written all that guff I can't even think why I decided to??? Oh well, done it now. Everyone enjoy their PPP if they get it done :)
