Yaris t-sport problem, can anyone help?

My Girfriend has a yaris T-sport which she uses as a driving school car. Now naturally it takes a fair bit of abuse but unlike previous older cars she's used, it seems to go into some kind of safety mode. It only seems to happen when the kids accidentally put it into a high gear going up hills, and it will then only move then in 1st/2nd and definitely won't go above 20mph, practically coming to a halt in 3rd even when the accelerator is flat to the floor!? any ideas??? If this this some kind of safety mode kicked in the ECU any way to shut it off?!

NEWSFLASH: Toyotas arent reliable cars anymore!

No idea mate, sorry.

Matteeboy 12 January 2007 06:13 PM

Happens sometimes in Peugeot 407s quite weirdly.

Take it in and get the ECU reset.

Reliability Index :: how reliable is your car?
Out of 1000, 18.62 Toyota owners made warranty claims against 39.76 Audi owners. Audis are less reliable than Citroens, Alfa Romeos and Fiats.

So if Toyotas aren't reliable, what does that make Audis?

:lol1: The a rover model is reliable according to that site. :lol1: Rovers arent reliable

lol I could tear apart that source but I cant be bothered. ;)

Just think about this, if your cheap as chips toyota all of a sudden gets a interior rattle will you care?

I know I wouldnt, its a cheap car people expect it, but if its a premium motor :nono:

If you want to put up a decent argument get some stats for major mechanical failures. Then we'll talk.

You have the intellectual capacity of a flea with learning difficulties. It's a third party warranty company. Do you really think they'll honour claims for interior rattles? You donkey.

According to you Audi has class leading interiors - so where are these supposed rattles coming from?

AudiLover 14 January 2007 01:50 PM

I was using rattles as an example you moron. Put brain into gear.

:iamwithst

Not a very good example if it doesn't apply, is it? It's like saying "AudiLover is an example of a knowledgable car enthusiast" when you're anything but.

The fact is that warranty companies only pay out for major mechanical defects, of which Audis have more than Toyotas. Your claim that Toyotas are unreliable makes you look even more of a fool than normal.

Matteeboy 14 January 2007 06:41 PM

Toyotas my not be very interesting but they are SO reliable.

Now when will they make something like a Supra again?

:lol1:

Then why is it that statistics always vary HUGELY from country to country?

BTW did you know that over a million toyotas got recalled last year due to safety issues. Shows how much you know.:lol1:

The toyotas of today just arent standing the test of time anymore;)

Beef 15 January 2007 09:35 AM

Really? Where's the evidence to back up that claim?

Beef 15 January 2007 09:45 AM

This is an interesting site: Car Recalls

Just check out the numbers of cars involved with some recalls!

So I guess that no one knows whats up with the yaris then :D
