Camcorder copy direct to Ext HDD possible

If I have a camcorder with a microdrive [4Gb capacity].
Is it possible to copy any film I have taken to an external hard drive without using a pc connection.
Am I able to plug in my external HDD into the USB port of the camcorder.

Strange question but we are looking for a way to copy without using a pc.

Failing that, is it possible to use something like a PSP or an ipod as a makeshift hub?
