Focus engines which one is best?
Friend of mine has asked me to help him find his wife a car, budget is £4500 and I suggested a Focus. Either a 1.8CDti or if I can remember which one is better a 1.6 Zetec or 1.8 Zetec.
Now I am 100% certain that there is a specific engine in the range that is the better all rounder. Am I thinking that it is the 1.6 Zetec or am I thinking about the fiesta 1.2 Zetec? Any advice would be great. |
I have a 1999 1.8 zetec which has done 109k, it still drives very well & often gives me 35/37mpg as stated in most sec sheets for this car.
worst mpg is in the winter months, though never drops below 33mpg best mpg is during the warmer months, best acheived is 37.68 120 miles of foot steady motorway miles 5 day's a week brilliant car |
1.8TDCi 100/115hp is the best by far. 115hp obviously would be the better of the two. My sister's car used to give 47-55mpg depending on use.
If its petrol you're after then the 1.6 is thought to be the best. |
I'd second the 1.6 - Feels livelier and revs more quickly.
Even Evo mag love it! |
I've had a 1.6 for nearly 5 years now. 55k and never missed a beat. Always averages between 40 and 42 to the gallon and is plenty fast enough for an everyday car.
Makes the Subaru feel nice and fast too when I use it. |
Cool, thanks peeps

2.0 zetec tdci, (6 speed box)
makes the 1.6tdci seem gutless!! goes like stink, and returns approx 60mpg Mart |
