VF29 TURBO???
:thumb: hi all,
just a quick q, did the ihi vf29's turbos come standard on any scoobys??? if so which one and how much power are they good for???cheers :thumb: |
VF24, 28 and 29 are all similar. I think the P1 came with a 28 or 29.
Possibly some classic STI's. If you do a search there are loads of threads on this that have some good info if you are thinking about using one. I use a modified 29. I think 330 -340 hp at a push with all supporting mods. |
I think version 6 sti type r and ra had the vf29 turbo as standard.
|
oh ok, so what turbo did the 22b come as standard then???
|
pretty sure the 22b came with the vf22
|
The VF29 came on the version 6 wrx and wrx ra, the VF28 was fitted to the P1, STI 6 type r and ra and last of all the 22B was fitted with the VF23.

so which turbo out of these has the best set up ie lag to power? i have a vf29 set-up on my type r and someone at ace mentioned it came off a 22b but i was unsure...not very laggy and has given me circa 340 @1.3bar
|
VF29 is an excellent turbo and spools very quickly, the shorter ratios of the type r will make it a very quick road car!

I agree with Banny. The VF29 is the later version and has very subtle improvements over the others (24, 28).
Your power output looks about as good as it gets with the 29 at 1.3bar. When I had mine mapped by AndyF we found that anything above 1.3 was pushing the turbo at high rpm. With an AVCR or other boost controller 1.4ish mid tailing to 1.3 is doable. Wayne. |
yeh, mines been mapped by andy forrest to, no avcr yet but the apexi power fc does its job set mapped at 1.3bar
