Making my second HDD the slave

Hi all
After handing my second HDD to a friend to recover some images off it that I'd deleted (Like a muppet!), I now have it back, and have plugged it back into the ribbon cable (IDE is it?).
Anyway, I haven't changed anything from before, including BIOS, although I can't remember what button to hold down on startup to double check my BIOS. There are no jumpers in the back of the second drive, and I've tried both grey AND black plugs on the ribbon cable. No matter what I try, with the second drive connected I get an "OS could not be found" message on startup.

It's clearly using the second drive as the master rather than the main SATA II that was always connected.
It's got to be something really obvious that I'm just not thinking of:wonder:
Please give me a clue:lol1:

Cheers in advance

Scratch that request. Just remembered to press 'Del' to check my BIOS, and it had swapped the boot sequence:lol1:

I'll leave you in peace now:cuckoo:

John

Check the jumper settings on your 2nd drive, to make sure your friend hasn't changed them

There should be Master Slave and Cable Select, or marked M S C/S

If it is on the same IDE channel as your master it should be set to slave or cable select

what machine is it? sometimes holding keys down will give you the option to go into the bios

sometimes F2 or F8 depending on the machine or DEL :D

edited to add 'Useless post from me then :p'
