Anyone with a handy SECS unit ?

CEL light is on and the dealership want £52.50 +VAT just to read to error codes. Anyone got one handy that I could plug in breifly to see the codes please as im still running on my redundancy money at the mo and every penny counts :(

mine is wired into the car though the cable may reach if the cars are parked close together - your welcome to give it a try tomorrow

Have you tried an ECU reset yet?
I think disconnecting the battery for a few mins does the trick. Just a thought:wonder:

WRXewl 10 January 2007 01:28 PM

Cheers Rob, may need to do that.

Will give it a try Kev and i just noticed a bit of slack in the throttle cable as well so I may not have been getting 100% throttle

Odd sound just below the main coolant tank when the ignition is turned on to hearing the fuel pump prime

Reset didn't work unfortunatly :( it just lost the radio and trip miles data)

CEL remains on solid, ontop of that the clutch peddle just started to stick slightly just before the highest point then come up the rest of the way

ARGH

 Did you not long ago have ppp fitted? or was it a powerstation remap:wonder: Try them see if they will help.

WRXewl 10 January 2007 05:06 PM

It was PPP fitted at the dealership about 7 months ago and the warranty ran out 3 months ago. Im not sure how many miles would be safe to be driving it to get it fixed as the last thing i would need is to drive it too long with the light on. The silly thing is that the car runs fine and no hesitation/kangaroo either.

Waiting for a call back from ACE to see when they could look at it.

Have you tried turned the ignition on/off a few times and then leaving it off for a few hours? My CEL light came on about 6 months ago and as long as I recycled the ignition a few times and then left it off for a while it cleared the CEL.

Admittedly it did keep coming back so I bought a PSI3 which showed 1) misfire on cyl 3 and 2) exhaust gas temp sensor fault (both common CEL codes).

They both came and went for a while then went for good.

I expect my PSI3 data lead will struggle to reach from my dash to under your steering column but you're welcome to try. :-)

in short - until your sure what it is its best not to drive it unless necessary. Even if you do drive it stay off boost to be safe

Excellent - got a secs unit from the old car in the attic, so no probs with plugging it into the car - just have to check that it still works.

If you are around tomorrow afternoon/early evening, could come straight out.

If you're interested let me know and we'll sort something.

Gareth

Had a power cut so couldn't get on here this morning but im back on. Called the RAC out from my mobile and it came back with error code P0031 which comes back as the O2 sensor. Hopefully its just that and not a MAF problem.

Cheers for the offers of help people its much appreciated :)

Until its fixed its a feather light right foot for me when going to get it fixed

Don't wish to confuse you on this but SEC's unit user manual say's code P0031 is:-HO2S Heater Control Circuit Low (Bank 1 sensor 1)

That'll be the heater circuit in the oxy sensor that heats the ceramic tip up so it goes porous to sense the o2 that is left in the exhaust gas , heater circuit normal resistence 3 ohms cold and 9 to 14 ohms warm .Or fuse for the heater circuit blown if fused or may be ecu supplied power not sure on scoob .
