You must receive the original certificate of de-registration along with a signed translation and a customs form (C386 or C389) to show that VAT & Duty has been paid.

Itd also be nice to receive a copy of the auction appraisal sheet; one is left inside the car by the auction house.

a manual containing lots of strange symbols!

Also expect to find some strange unrelated plastic discount shopping points card or similar under the seat or in the boot. Seems to be a compulsory addition to the export documentation.... :D

Thanks guys!

Simon - will I still get the de-reg if the car has only just got the plates on ie does it fly off to the DVLA or something only to return at a later date?

The auction sheet is gone :( I do have a scanned copy though ... 5A :thumb:

I thought that the DVLA keep the original De-Reg certificate once the car is registered.
When I imported my vehicle back in 2005 I had to give the De-Reg to the DVLA and still haven't recieved it back...

Yes thats correct you dont get the de-reg back because it's exchanged for an english logbook.
