Looks nice apart from the lights.

Sure its a Version5?? Have you got the VIN to check? May have been given a later reg mark on import.

Matt_taylor 08 January 2007 04:53 PM

i pranged my front bumper..

people will prob ask why does it have headlight washer jets and no washer jets....

well its off a jap car the bumper andi wanted it as it has a nice splitter.. plus never used the washer jets!

EddScott 08 January 2007 04:53 PM

V5 and V6 had the final facelift front bumpers. That Impreza hasn't got the final facelift front bumper.

AND from the pics, I can see it has V4 seats. Its a V4 mate with a V6 rear spoiler.

Its probably on a V as thats when it came into the country and they couldn't date it properly.

Its not worth 8999 either. :)

GC8 08 January 2007 04:54 PM

You need to check the Applied Model Number. Its on the build plate and it starts GC8?4ED. The missing letter identifies the model year and therefore the version. Im guessing its a V4...

Tidgy 08 January 2007 04:54 PM

has it got a version 6 spoiler on it?

def a version 4 front end

can tell cos of the number of ribs in the indicators and the front lip

mines a version 6, but version 5 front pumper on the sti's was more or les the same (think slght difference on lip though)

Don't V5 seats onwards have red patches on the seat bolsters as well as the wing backs?

My V4 had those seats. Along with the v4 front end my initial guess its a v4. Some cars have been given later reg plates in the past when SVA'd and registered BTW. I'm unsure why though.

Agreed get the model no. from the chasis plate and check this via the sidc buyers guide.

Good luck though. If in doubt get your money back as their are plenty of STIs about forsale.

Regards

Esh

Sounds like it is a V4 then, so if the car is straight and you are happy with a V4 over a 5 or 6 then barter him down based on the fact it is an earlier (lesser) model.

To be double sure get the model number from the chassis plate and one of us can check for you.

banny sti 08 January 2007 05:04 PM

That car is defo a v4 as it has the older bumper, v4 seats and the the v4 steering wheel. As the V5 momo steering has a white ring around the momo sign in the centre.

Do you have any pics of engine bay as the coil pack on the V4 is in the middle of the inlet manifold and on the V5/6 have the coilpack slightly offset to the right.

if it is a version 4 def need some money off that price of 9k

I dont know

Thats why im really appriciating the help from you guys :notworthy :luvlove:

Personally If I were buying a V5 /6 I would want that complete with all of the model year kit. Accept nothing less. No idea why someone would retrofit the V1-4 bumper and V4 seats et al to this car. Maybe the dealer knows or maybe not????

Gear Head 08 January 2007 05:12 PM

That is a V4 for sure. I used to have one.
The main giveaway is the steering wheel. V5/6 had a silver/black momo badge. V3/4 had the same colour badge as the steering wheel.

This is my my99 uk turbo, but has the same badge as a V5/6 sti.

Also, the seats are definately V4.

You could also check the engine.
A MY99 v5 should have the coil pack mounted on the right hand side of the inlet manifold, like this one. (MY99 UK turbo)

A V4 will have it mounted in the middle, like my old v4 sti. (again, heres one I made earlier!)

9k for a version 4 sti 4 door? Someone's having a laugh. A V5 on Ebay went for just over 4k a little while ago, albeit with a little history.

stevet350 08 January 2007 05:18 PM

looks like a v4 to me chap best you get down to that garage and demand your dosh back for that money there are a lot of good quality subs out there and imho thats seen a new front end and interior or something aint right with the plate its always best to walk away if you have any doubts at all i wish you well with that dealer tho they are going to wriggle

EddScott 08 January 2007 05:35 PM

Sometimes when imports come into the country, if they can't work out what its manufacture year is they'll give it that years registration - at least thats what used to happen. (Seen 1992 Nissan Pulsar registered on an R due to this)

As for this car, it may well be a straight car but its not a V5. Personally I wouldn't bother. For that money you'll get a V5/6 which means you get all the last revisions before they changed the shape.

Ask for your dosh back. If they get funny A) you did't want a car from them in the first place and B) they described a car as something its not so you can use that to get your money back should they get funny.

Gear Head 08 January 2007 06:02 PM

Plus you can't remap the v4 ecu! But you can on the V5/6
