Rising Revs on Start-Up

Lately when I come to start my MY93 WRX after leaving it for about a week or two the revs begin to rise on there own, I blip the throttle and it starts idleing properly.

Doesnt do it when stopping after driving only if left for a week or more and when it does drive I have absoloutly no probelms and everything runs very smooth any ideas?

could it just be the extra strain on the alternator thats trying to charge the battery back up after being left for a while. I havent left it rev and see how high it goes because I dont like it high revving when its only just been started, Highest I've let it go to is about 1.3k rpm-1.4k usually idles at about 1k then settles to about 850-900rpm.

Cheers,
Gaz

Thats what I would have thought but seeing as it only does it one off, untill i leave it for a week.

If I start it run it then turn it off let it go totally cold and start it in the same day it doesnt do it. Probably worrying over nothing, just a sign I should use it more, lol.

Thanks tho, if it keeps doin it I will check that first.

Yes the fact that it is left for a few days is probably why it does it. Infact it may not even be a fault as most cars are designed to do that.
