TonyBurns 06 January 2007 06:00 PM

JDM STi :D
Running 100 ron fuel it should (without remap unlike the other 2 cars which do have remaps) be pushing 300-310bhp, remapped your looking (with exhaust mods) at about 350-360bhp :D

JDM STi :thumb:

mines 350 bhp and 370ft/lb torque with just an exhaust and remapp, still has a Cat on it as well.

Plus you get lots of extras

HID's (legal ones!)
Rear wash wipe
swoopy dials
Twin scroll turbo a

and much more

Here's what JDM STI gets over a UK spec STI:

- still use the EJ20 (2 litre) engine
- Twin Scroll Turbo
- Nitride coated, cross drilled crank (improved hardness and oiling, higher RPM)
- 13:1 STI quick rack
- Slightly larger I/C design
- Auto and manual I/C spray (UK get manual activation only)
- More aggressive inlet cams
- Equal length headers
- Rear wash wipe
- Electric folding wing mirrors
- Privacy glass
- 235 width tyres (UK get 225)
- Additional yaw sensors for the Active Centre Diff
- 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th same as UK, 5th and 6th are shorter
- Front STI Titanium strut brace
- 8,000rpm Redline

Not to hijack yr thread but... I'm posing similar thoughts. I have a 04 model UK STi 8 with ppp, have looked at a MY06 JDM STi but just cannt decide :(

Seems that if you want power the JDM is the way.. but what concerns me a bit is the loss of the flat 4 sound, the one I drove was as quiet as a mouse!! and the suspension was as hard as rocks by comparason to the UK version.

If you change the exhaust say put my TSL gp N back and a new mid pipe on, will that help? and with a set of Prodrive or similar springs will that help the ride?? Sorry to butt in but maybe any answers may help you as well.

Thanks guys.

If you want the better car then go for JDM, simple as.

That is true thanks to the better engine spec of the JDM cars, particularly the Spec C models ;)

They are more focused cars so they are bound to be more harsh/raw compared to the UK cars.

If you want a more focused car I feel that changing the suspension to 'water it down' slightly is defeating the object of buying the car in the first place. You buy the car as you want the technically best model available and are willing to compromise on such things as ride quality.

Changing the exhaust will definitely liberate the engine sound. But thanks to the equal length headers of the JDM cars you will not have the burble. At full chat it will sound more like a superbike. It's very unique, it howls ;) Plus the power delivery is nothing short of spectacular.

depends on what you want the car for, if you want the ultimate road warrior and best platform to mod,its got to be the jdm, but if its for everyday/family use id go with a uk sti and nicely taking the middle ground is the wr1. if i was buying again itd either be the jdm or the wr1
