WRX Auto, Jumpy when cold? transmission fluid?

Hi, I have a wrx auto when starting in mornings its a little jumpy changing gears when cold its only for about the first minute of driving then its smooth. Where abouts would i need to look to find how much fluid is in the gearbox or top it up i know it sound stupid but cant find out where it will go!?

You probably have to go under the car to check the fluid on that auto box, id get it in to a speciallist and get the oil changed to start with, otherwise it could turn out to be expensive if you have low oil :(

Tony:)

Thanks for the advice tony, you think an oil change will be needed not just a top up?

Autobox dipstick on Classic shape Imprezas autos should be on the RIGHT hand side of the intercooler towards the rear of the engine bay. (NOT the left side - thats the location on manual versions ;) )

If checked when hot (ideally after a good run), keep the engine running (in PARK). Top up with Dextron II or III specification fluid through the dipstick tube so the level is at the max line on the side of the dipstick marked "hot" (you'll have to be inventive as to how not to spill any :D ).

Also look at the oil and have a sniff. If its smells burnt or looks brown (should be a rich pink colour), it'll need to be changed the next time you get the car serviced.
