Honda S2000 service schedule
Has anybody got a service schedule for a Honda S2000 out there? I'm contemplating getting one and would like to know when the major services are due.

The service swith the longer times they will probably only be plugs,Fuel and brake fluid.They do drive nice and rev well!

Oh, thanks! Have you any experience with the costs of servicing the S2000?
My father-in-law to be used to have one, he often lent it to me and I used to love driving it with the hood down! He's now got rid of it and bought a 350z with the Nismo aero body kit, very nice! |

As has been said, servicing basically every 9K or 12 months (whichever comes first for the purposes of the Honda warranty).
I am now on my second S2000 .... the bit in between being a WRX PPP :). I have - today - had the 2nd service done on my MY05 S2000... and it cost £180 in SW London. Another dealer nearby also quoted exactly the same. IIRC the first service costs almost dead on £100. The first 2 services are glorified oil changes - after that more is generally done. I didn't find my first S2000 dear to own or service - hopefully my second will be the same. I think it comes down to it being a Honda .... infact the running costs of all the Japanese cars I have had has been significantly lower than anything else I have owned ! |
I had a 2000 model a few years ago. the service schedule was (and I don't think it's changed)
9 - Minor (change oil from mineral to s-synth) 18 - Minor 27 - Major 36 - Minor 45 - Minor 54 - Major + plugs (titanium I think so only change every 54k) 63 - Minor and so on. Basically ever 9k miles. Major every 3 services. Costs for my old one (may have changed since no doubt): Minor = £128 Major = £220 I think Tyres: £340 all 4 fitted. It was one of the cheapest cars I've ever run (and the most expensive purchase cost to me) as I would get 28/30 mpg average over tank. |
The difference between big and small services isn't the same as it is with a scooby. They are overall far cheaper to run than an Impreza and far more enjoyable to drive :)

Mate totaly wrecked his over christmas. no experience of rear wheel drive and he drives like a nutter . As you have to rev these cars to get anywhere (My diesel is faster in traffic !) they tend to be driven a bit faster or at least with higher revs. The back chewed his arse off and now he is one unhappy guy.

The S2000 will bite you if you are not careful but to be honest with respect you should be fine. It was my first RWD car and I used to let the back end wander in the wet - I just spend thousands of miles getting to know her slowly. Common sense really :) |
So, when is the timing belt done? How much does this cost?

It isn't. It has a timing chain. Never have to change and is self tensioning. No harm in getting a mechanic to check though.

Ah! I'm thining that the running costs will be so much less than my current MY96 JDM STI, even though the insurance is £600 more :confused:

Generally my services are 150-170ish for a minor and up to 300 for a big bugger! |
