PRODRIVE SPRINGS versus LONDON SPEEDHUMPS
 

I do most of my driving in & around South London where there are an awful lot of speed humps.

I have an 06 STI PPP with standard suspension & it drives like a dream & absorbs the speed humps without hassle. I'd like to lower the car with prodrive springs but am worried about the front scrapeing on speed humps.

Does anyone have the springs fitted & live in a area with lots of speed humps that would give me a review of how it drives?

I have Prodrive springs on a WRX. Excellent compromise between handling and ride.

As I understand it, the Prodrive STi springs work well too. Sound like the ideal choice if you are concerned about road humps.

i have a my02 sti with prodrive springs and i havent grounded out on a speed hump yet. it dosent like some dips coming out of some car parks and her nose will scrape a little

i have an 05 sti with prodrive springs and aftermarket skirts that make it even lower and have no problems with speed bumps either full or the car width type.

I've got a hawkeye with springs and a lip spoiler. I do a great deal of driving round Richmond/Kew/New Malden. No problems at all :D

We have some pretty vicious ones in Oxford but I've never had any probs in my Prodrive sprung WRX. I once saw a Lambo Murcielago taking a speed hump here and he got over it eventually, so I don't expect you'd have any problems in your STi. One tip if you are concerned: approach a hump at an angle (rather than wheels parallel to it) aiming to get one wheel on the hump before the other.

Ive got an 03 sti ppp with the original suspension and am very tempted to get the prodrive suspension but am worried with my scott lowe front lip that over bumps and more importantly my driveway that it will scrape :freak3:

You won't have problems with Prodrive or Eibach springs! Read what others have posted above, they can't all be wrong!

However, if you chose to fit some silly 'lowered by 50mm plus' springs, then you will hit the bumps, and have a **** ride also.

(I'm on my 5th Impreza with Prodrive springs and live in London)

i had the prodrive springs added to my 06 sti about 2 weeks ago and the alignment sorted too. The ride is better imho, i didnt like the standard spring and found the ride very uncomfortable.

The turn in is much better and the tramlining has gone. The standard set up pulled a lot on poor road surfaces making b roads a bit of a challenge.

Not had any issues with the ride height

it did use to feel like a real bone shaker, initially i thought the prodrive springs would offer a harder ride, which would have resulted in the missus probably not coming out in the car. On past scoobs the prodrive springs have offered a harder, but i decided to change as i thought the prodrive springs couldnt be any worse, and in the past they have improved the cars handling in a major way!
With the prodrive springs the ride is firm but the rebound isnt as harsh, it seem more cushioned.

I've got the Prodrive springs & STI front lip spoiler on my 06 STI and had no problems with speed bumps etc.. :thumb:

Does anybody else find themselves driving along going bouncy bouncy? My 02 STI seems to suffer from rebound of some description and the ride is uncomfortable. I've been wondering if it's something you have to live with or if you can change the springs to improve it. Will the Prodrive springs remove this bouncy bouncy feeling?? And I take it they're available from a Subaru dealer?:luxhello:

as per above i found the standard springs very bone shaking. If i went over a pot hole at say 40mph it felt as if i had a real low rider, reminded me of my mates old mk2 golf that was dropped about 110mm, as if there was no give in the suspension. The prodrive feels a lot better.

yes they are available from the dealer, but if you car is outside of warranty somewhere like TSL would be better. They use prodrive springs but its cheaper and they can laser align the wheels which makes a massive difference!

sounds encouraging. do you drive over the centre of the speed beump or do you drive 1 wheel over?

Just out of interest, how much does prodrive springs lower the car by?

i was looking to get some 19s fitted to my wrx and lower it but not sure which springs yet

i had an 01 WRX with 19" rims on, no issues with fitting, no rubbing and had full turning circle, i didnt think the ride was bad either.

I'm sold too.

Ride on my '05 WRX Wagon has always been bouncy especially at higher speeds.

Strange, because my '00 Turbo never did this..... although it did have clutch judder!
