Just had a new part added to the old central heating system, as it sounded like it was going to blow up (Heat Exchanger I think). Does sound noisey but now none of the radiatots down stairs work!!! Hmm not best pleased!! Looks like Its gonna be a cold xmas, so its extra wiskey for me tonite, purely to keep warm.

Any thoughts on whats wrong?

did the plumber who done the work turn off any taps in you airing cupboard?

sounds like the downstairs rads have been isolated from the system to save having to drain and refill them while matey worked on your system.

Not a plumber by the way,but do all my own stuff.

hope I was helpful,if not banish me to muppet island,

What did they change?
What sort of boiler is it? Combi, etc
If it was the heat exchanger they will of drained the system.(unless its a combi with valves underneath the boiler).Check all rad valves are open.
is there mains electric to the boiler?
Is there a pilot light on the boiler?,is it on?
if it is, switch on the time clock.Does the boiler fire up?
If it does ,feel the pipes on the boiler are they getting warm.
Can you hear the central heating pump ,circulating water?

Try venting a radiator, turn the vent key only a little ,till you hear air or see water coming out the rad.

Depending on the system(do you have a hot water cylinder?,if you do)there might be a vent on the pipe going in the side of the cylinder, vent that.

Try that for the time being,
Dont mess with any gas aplliance, call a corgi registered installer if in doubt.

(yes i am corgi reg but cannot be held responsible for any damage you cause) :)
