WHERE IS MY BOOSTE SOLENOID???

I have a 2001 bugeye and ihave been reading that cleaning the booste solenoid can help with pick and general running. At the moment it has done 65K and under acceleration there is hesitation. Before i go changing coil packs, which i have done once already along with 2 sets if plugs, i wonder if someone could tell me where to locate my booste solenoid so i can try cleaning it! Cheers

Stand in front of the car, open the bonnet, on the left side of the bay, infront of the suspension mount is a black coverwith two twist locks on. Underneath this is your boost Controller solenoid.

Follow the cables and pipes to the boost controller:thumb:

LOL how do you think everyone else learnt? Same as you, by asking others on here.

Once you have it out, one way to clean it is to leave it plugged in electrically and start up the self-test function with the plugs under your dash. This will cycle the valve open and closed while you squirt carb cleaner through it. Just make sure you do it over a big tray or something so you don't get oil crud all over your engine bay.

What do you have to do with th eplugs under the dash to start the self test function?

If its the same as old impreza then under the steering colomn you will find a green and a black connector taped to the column. To put it into test mode connect the green connectors together and switch the ignition on. I cant say that i'm right cos not had much to do with newer impreza. Worth a look around. Im sure some1 else will say if im wrong.

to do the test on the bugeye you have to locate 2 green plugs under the steering coloum. One male and one female connector, put them together and turn you ignition on so the lights on the dash light up, you Engine management light will start flashing, then all the fans will start up then boost solenoid, ect...........

thats how to do the test on the bugeye

Cheers mate. Ok had a look at weekend - found the ECU connectors fine and located the solenoid no probs.

Stupid question now I know, but how on earth do you unattach the solonoid from the bracket thing its in in order to spray anything into it ? :wonder:
