Who's an exercise/gym loon?
I've been a sadcase gym/exercise freak since I was about 16 (now 31) and still go at it like a nutter albeit more for maintenance than muscle gain.
In the early days it was a pure obsession, now it's a bit more relaxed! Anyone else into it? |
I go a few days a week for an hour. Mainly just muscle toning and a small bit of cardio. Really cant be arsed most of the time, but as i am paying for it....
|
Guilty your honour! 2-3 times a week, my excuse is now that I have had to pack up playing Rugby through injury and old age (42) I know that if I dont go to the gym I will end up like Rick Waller:( believe me I aint no muscle bound God just a bloke trying not to get too fat!:thumb:
|
Used to go 4-5 times a week in my younger days mostly weight training back then. Now I do mostly cardio 2 times a week and body boarding a couple times a week in the summer.
|
6 days a week with seperate intensive muscle training (no, not w@nking)
with and hour of cardio on season..... Off season I train every other day.....:D Love it..... |
Going to a gym must be the most boring soulless experience there is. Where I work we get free membership to a top gym (which financially is a major perk) and I reckon about 5 people out of 120 use it regularly. :lol1:
So many people go once and say "I'm going to go 3 times a week from now on" and after 2 weeks admit that they just can't be arsed and would rather boil their heads! |

At one time, yes
Not anymore tho |
The gays love a nice fit bod:p :thumb: |
Tripple - Bloody hell!
I used to do a split routine and that was pretty much daily (put on 3 stone in 18 months) but now it's easier maintenance and toning stuff. 10 mile MTB ride (big hills) daily. Home weights (lots of bodyweight/gymnastic type exercise) 3 times a week. Run about twice a week (three miles, hilly) Dog walk 2 miles a day. Surf anything from once in a week to twice daily depending on the conditions (usually 2+ hours a session). Six packs are hard bloody work! |

Do it while you're into it, because once you have kids and/or turn 40, it's a whole different ballgame :thumb:
|
Like you say....it's all hard work but pays off in the end :thumb:
however on season i'm only hitting it for 6 months solid......then it's bulking time which is well worth the hard work :cuckoo: |
I used to be a friggin idiot - Gym with heavy weights 3 times a week and Tae-kwondo twice a week and boxing at weekends with a couple of nutters who learnt their craft inside. not done anything proper for two years now and boy does it show, joined a new and closer gym before Christmas which is better but by christ i've a long way to go - need to shift 4 stone to reach my target weight of 16-17 stone (yes you heard correct)
Unfortunately cannot do any sort of martial arts due to a knee injury - which doesn't help being a fat b***ard. keep saying i need to get a MTB - that may help. |

I find half an hour on my heavy bag knackers me right out. I used to teach kickboxing and specialised in the circuit side (a more experienced instructor did more of the techniques) - My goal used to be to try and make at least one pupil throw up! Not sure an MTB will help the knee? Did a Royal Marines POC (and passed) - That had me on the verge of throwing up! |

Six packs are hard bloody work! afterwards they were fecked and told me they just simply could not carry on, the instructor laughed and said 'told ya so' |

Well been thinking of kitting my garage out as it is really big and i never park my car in there anyway, it just needs a tidy and sorting out. i was always better at boxing anyway then tae-kwondo |
Chief - I was always more of a "boxing" kickboxer than a kicking one too.
I'd look at a heavy bag then - You must burn a lot of calories (no idea how many but it does me in and I think I'm quite fit!) I sparred against all sorts and always found Tae Kwondo people quite easy to "get inside" and beat. With the surfing - It's suprisingly tiring at first but you soon get used to it if you go in a lot. Paddling becomes second nature and it's only once you get out that you realise you are starving hungry and exhausted! |
it depends what tae-kwondo wtf fighters are easy as they just kick and punch to the body. i used to do itf where as soon as someone breached your kicking range you brought your hands into play, i was quite good at this as my kicks were mediocre at best, yet my hand speed (for a big bloke anyway) was pretty good.
anyway you've spurred me on - and i'm off to the gym at lunch so cheers:thumb: |
Running & Biking 3 times a week and just the one weights session. I've started trying out indoor triathlon: Rower, Bike, Run which is quite a nice change for the moment.
I've a 6 hour adventure race later this month and a 10km cross country race in February which includes fording 4 rivers. It wasn't so bad last year as other people got there first and broke the ice :D |
My routine up until about 3 weeks before xmas was -
Gym 4 times a week, mass building intensive split, low rep volume, max weight... 5's twice a week - Mon and Thursday Football Training once a week - Tuesday Squash once a week - Wednesday 11's on a Saturday morning.... Not got as much time now cos of longer working hours so the gym has stopped although i'm back to going three mornings a week before work as of Monday. 1 game of 5's is ditched as well as i'm not too popular with my gf.... |
4 times a week
