Pug 205 Mi16

Any of you 205 Mi16 owners know of any good mechanics/specialists in the South East?

Want to have a little work done and all the specialists seem to be up north, midlands or west country :( .

Cheers
Ross

Is Oxford too far?

ScoobyJawa 03 January 2007 02:12 PM

What sort of work mate? And what sort of location?

Try this bloke:

Welcome to Jonnie Wigmore

He did the conversion on my old 205 gti mi16 twin carbs etc. Think he's arounf the Bicester-Oxford area. Quite cheap and he knows his stuff.

You'll find him on 205GTIDrivers.com jonnie205 or you can contact through his homepage

One of the best 205 forums.

I can 2nd Jonnie's work. He fitted a 1.6 gearbox to my 1.9 2 years ago and always has parts available at cheap prices :thumb:

Why would you want a 1.6 box in a 1.9?:Suspiciou

Bald Speed Racing 03 January 2007 03:24 PM

quicker acceleration (spelling) the 1.6's run different ratios

Indeed, even the 1.9 box in mine with 200 break is way too long, i'll be fitting a shorter Mi box later next year, hopefully with a Quaife as well, providing I still have the car then ;)

rossi, what sort of work you after, not fancy DIYing it? :)

simo 03 January 2007 03:41 PM

1.6 box is shorter in 1st 3 or 4 gears iirc so it does help the acceleration :D

BTW, Jonnie also sorted out a Mi box for a mate at a good price as well :thumb:

I was also going to say Jonnie. :notworthy

Cheers chaps,

Oxford or Southampton are both fine so can try both out :thumb:. SE London, South Essex or North Kent would be better though.

I would post on 205gtidrivers or one of the other pug forums but I can't access them at work through our firewall for some reason... Scoobynet is okay though  .

Work wise, I usually have a full car service/check/cambelt when I buy a car. Usually go main agents or a specialist and seeing as the 205 has a few ;) modifications, I don't think the main agents would have a clue. Haven't got round to doing it yet and would like to before the harsh weather kicks in.

Also have a squeak coming from one of the belts too, which I would like checked out.

All the best
Ross
