I'd just like to ask why some topics are moved out of general and who has the power to do it? I had a general question about people racing my 911, with the title 'Racing' and it was moved to motorsport

Get used to it mate, it happens all the time. Its happening a little too often for my liking, but what can you do?
astraboy.

john&nicci 30 November 2001 10:37 AM

Astraboy.....For Moderator!!!!!!!:D

That would cause a web-wide revolt!!!!:D

Hanslow 30 November 2001 10:38 AM

Probably because racing is not road legal and hence should be kept to the appropriate times, such as motorsport competition.

Racing shouldn't happen even at track days, unless it's an organised competition ;)

Hence, it was probably deemed more appropriate to the motorsport section.

To be able to move them, you have to be a moderator.

Edit : Hmmmm, having just read the post, can't see why it was moved to motorsport. Maybe just from the title

And what about the post that got deleted yesterday, the one about peoples reputations on the internet. I just saw the thread but by the time I clicked on it it had been deleted.

Would I be correct in thinking that a Ferrari 360 showed up in this post somewhere?

humbug 30 November 2001 10:44 AM

I notice that charity threads don't get moved or deleted despite being irrelevant to this part of the board. Double standards methinks.

Adam M 30 November 2001 10:52 AM

Joey,

that threaqd you refer to was mine, and I emailed the moderator requesting it be deleted because I was venting anger and it was about to turn into a slanging match.

That was my call, not the moderators/webmaster.

chuckster 30 November 2001 10:55 AM

The guy who wrote the post about reputations requested it be deleted - as he'd spelt something in the title wrong and was embarrased.
I can't belive anyone can be so petty as to complain about the charity post - blimey!
Moving posts is done to encourage people to use the appropriate forum, thats all. Looks like the moderator didn;t read 911boys post, but made an assumption based on the title. If he'd read it it would have gone to the muppet show or been deleted as road racing is illegal and regulars should have worked out by now what happens to these kind of posts

Adam M,

Fair enough I was actually more annoyed that I just missed it as it looked like a fairly entertaining read. As I don't know any of the people involved I don't really know exactly what is going on although reading the posts on here and bbs.22b.com gives a rough idea....

Just me being nosey really!

chuckster 30 November 2001 10:59 AM

Hahaha Adam, see ure still embarrased LOL

911Boy 30 November 2001 11:05 AM

Chuck, it was'nt about road racing...just Scoobys trying to race me :p

Shaun 30 November 2001 11:05 AM

Hello Folks,

The reason why posts are moved to the appropriate forums, is that if they blatantly have nothing to do with the forum topic. Hence why "General Questions about Scoobynet/Subarus", should only contain such topics (Remember the Subaru/Scoobynet part). I know it may seem a pain at times, but the differemt forums have been setup to assist in people finding what they really want quickly.

This topic has been aired before, but I still think it makes sense to have everything ordered rather than thrown into a pile.

I hope this helps clarify the reasoning.

Regards,
Shaun.

911Boy 30 November 2001 11:08 AM

Hi Shaun,

But my post was not to do with motorsport. It was a general typre question but if someone had just read the title then I suppose they may have got the wrong end of the stick. I'll be more careful about titles etc. in future. :D

Shark 30 November 2001 11:11 AM

Shaun

Why are some posts moved and not others?

Neil's charity post is not a General Question IMHO, and he's a moderator

Arron's claim to fame thread?

I'll shut up now :D

David

Shaun 30 November 2001 11:19 AM

911Boy,
Cant comment on your post, as I never read it.

Shark,
IMHO the charity thread is to do with Scoobynet/Subarus specifically. It's also a very general topic that most of the community has been involved in.

:)

Regards,
Shaun.

chuckster 30 November 2001 11:49 AM

Trust a dealer to complain about charity ;) LOL

Point taken chaps ;)
