Has anyone got access to a sand blaster or acid dip at work

Am considering removing my inlet manifold for a few mods(fuel rail conversion, samco turbo inlet pipe and manifold spacers), and while its off i might have it painted, just wondered if any one local had access to the means of cleaning the old one up first

Cheers

Cookie :)

buy a 2" paint brush, cut the hairs off so there's about 10mm left, so the bristles are nice and erm stiff;)

get a tin of Gunk (engine degreaser) from halfrauds and clean with the brush, good stuff, only takes about 10 mins to do, I painted my inlet manifold with smooth hammerite, and gave it about 4 coats, after 8 months, there's still no sign of cracking or flaking

Was thinking of blue, but not 100%, it might look a bit OTT :wonder:

Ahh, i thought it just came in red, really considering doing this now.

What colour did you use?

I used blue, get the aerosol hammerite, so you won't get any brush marks

While I think of it mate, if you have the manifold dipped, make sure they don't use caustic soda as this will eat aluminium

I think maybe as its unpainted just a good scrub with a degreaser, followed by a cycle in the dishwasher should do the trick :norty:
