Minis dressed up as london taxis. have you seen them?

Missus was in harley street yesterday and there were 2 minis that drove past her and parked up.... both looking just like london black cabs. she said they even had the little orange taxi sign on the front of the roof, but they said MINI instead of TAXI.

anyone heard of this? seen them even?

When I worked for BMW they brought in a transporter full of minis for us to drive around bracknell in. wouldn't surprise me that they were doing this sort of stunt.

(She had to be the only person in the world without a camera phone :()

MINI London Taxis
Go for a ride around the capital with MINI London taxis.

See London in a whole new way with a tour of the city in one of the MINI London taxis that are taking over the Soho and Covent Garden areas. Instead of boring old black cabs, cruise around London in style in a literal MINIcab and see a side to the capital that you never even knew existed – and best of all, it’s for free.

MINI locations
The MINI cabs are available at three locations in the West End – Soho Square and Golden Square in Soho and Monmouth Street in Seven Dials, Covent Garden. Look out for the signed taxi rank and the MINIs lining the street – you can’t miss it. After a successful first week in East London, the MINIs are only in the West End until Friday 16th December, so make sure you don’t miss out.

A tour of London
The MINI London Taxis will take you on a sightseeing tour of the capital, winding through side streets and alleys of a London that you don’t normally get to see with the cabbie pointing out unusual London landmarks that the average tour guide might miss. This is the perfect opportunity to do a quick tour of London and explore some of the less well known areas of the city. The tour lasts approximately 20 minutes and will take you back to your starting off point, or drop you off at a tube station that’s on the way. MINI is also promising an excellent surprise in store at the end of the tour, so be prepared and bring a camera.

The MINI drivers
The MINI Cooper taxi drivers are all in training to drive black cabs, so their knowledge of London streets is second to none. Training to be a London cab driver normally takes about 5 years, and the cabbies have more than 85,000 streets, names and important places to memorize – but don’t worry, they might still be learning but they definitely know their stuff.

Your own personal taxi
If they’re not too busy, the drivers in charge of the MINI London taxis will forgo their tour all together and take you wherever you need to be – within reason, of course. Why not try to see if you can get a lift home from work in style? Nothing beats a free ride.

MINI London taxis are available to hire on Monmouth Street in Seven Dials and at Golden Square and Soho Square in Soho from 12pm – 7.30pm through Friday 15th December. The taxi rides are free.
